What did you learn today?

#1126

Wallabies are greedy buggers too

(Wendy) #1127

Fortunately there is no garden in February where I am, and all the little critters are sleeping. Waiting for me to plant something I’m sure.

#1128

And waiting for the perfect moment of ripeness - they’re so good at that they could work in the produce section

(Running from stupidity) #1129

So true

#1130

At least they eat all of something though - like the whole. damn. plant.

(Jane) #1131

So TRUE!!!

(Eric - The patient needs to be patient!) #1132

Patience with the wife on my fasting gets me to the point of:

wife: “Hey, are you eating tonight?”
me: “No Fasting at least until
”
wife: “Cool, JP and I might have shrimp”

JP is my eldest and she is keto and very successful on keto.
I’m allergic to shrimp.

That somehow I make less mess on the cooker with frying / stirfrying my food than my carby housemates do when cooking anything.

(KCKO, KCFO đŸ„„) #1134

That is what our local raccoons do, eat it to the ground. We did corn one year, didn’t get an ear of it.

The squirrels like a bite from our apples and leave the rest. They don’t appear to touch any of the fallen fruit at all.

Thank goodness possums don’t live in our area, gets too cold for them.

(Eric - The patient needs to be patient!) #1135

We had sunflowers once that were 10 feet tall (3+ meters). Went on vacation and came back and the plants were topped off at 3 feet. No sign of the top. Guessing racoons carried them away. I was bummed out.

#1136

We had a couple of wallabies that ate every chilli plant & every lime sapling - we called them Frida & Diego :mexico:

Just like our possums :roll_eyes::laughing:

(Full Metal KETO AF) #1137

Are you one of those “I weigh 6 stone 9” people? Talk about confusing. We’re just trying to keep the old British system alive here! I’ve always wondered where this stone so perfect that it became a recognized legitimate measure of weight. Did everyone have to take turns using the stone? Maybe you saved your weighing tasks for the one day every year when the stone was in your village. :face_with_monocle:

(The amazing autoimmune 🩄) #1139

I learned that sugar plays a role in developing cataracts.

(Kay) #1140

Today I learnt that ‘Navel Oranges’ get their name from the navel-like spot that is found on the blossom end/base of the fruit. My 7 year old commented that the spot on the base looked a little like a belly button - turns out he was correct. Apologies if common knowledge but I’d got to 35 without knowing so now I’m spreading the word, (not that I eat the oranges)

#1141

Today, I learned that a McDonald’s double cheeseburger without the bun is amazingly good and I do NOT miss the bun whatsoever!

(Ellen) #1142

Even pre keto I didn’t use pre packed sauces for stir fry, always too sweet for me, this is why, always read the labels people.

(Jane) #1143

OMG. That packet is pure sugar/pure poison!!!

#1144

Speaking of oranges, I found out yesterday that the colour orange was named after the fruit and not vice versa.

(Hyperbole- best thing in the universe!) #1145

Poor orange, last color to get its own name rather than a comparative description like red-yellow.

Originally it was a naranj, a norange, an orange.
