What did you learn today?

#1086

Finally sat down to watch Marie Kondo’s tidying show on Netflix. Somehow it ended with my kitchen being cleaned up and completely reorganized. Very informative and fun. I’m glad there’s finally someone else who can join LeVar Burton in filling the void of Genuinely Nice People since the late passings of Mr. Rogers and Steve Irwin.

I tried it but couldn’t. Not because of her, I think she’s got it going on but watching the woman in epi one say thank you to each shirt had me rolling (because it just did) and then when they had to learn how to fold their shirts I just couldn’t anymore. But apparently it’s got some traction, people are talking about it!

I finally learned - after many printing mishaps, how to get an excel spreadsheet to print on a single page.

(Running from stupidity) #1089

How did you cope with her voice? I saw the promo for it and was all: “NOCHANCE I can deal with more than 10 seconds of that!”

I believe I already fold stuff like her, anyway.

But her “philosophy” (to be very grandiose about it) drives me nuts.

I don’t care if it brings me “joy” so much as “utility.”

#1090

Idk what you mean, about 75% of the time she’s speaking Japanese.

(squirrel-kissing paper tamer) #1091

Her voice didn’t bother me. It was high pitched, right? See, I don’t even remember.

(Laurie) #1092

I’ve never seen (or heard) a Marie Kondo video, but I’ve read some of her books. Quite use—, er, utile. I skim or skip the parts that don’t apply.

I don’t fold as she does, because I don’t have drawers. I hang almost everything up. If you air dry your clothes, you can put your shirts and T-shirts on hangers instead of pinning them to a clothesline. When the shirts are dry, they’re ready to hang in the closet. No pinning, unpinning, or folding, and you can fit more things on the clothesline.

(Running from stupidity) #1093

OK, I’ve only seen about 10 seconds of the promo.

(Jane) #1095

I learned today that fried cheese in ghee makes the BEST bedtime snack… even though I shouldn’t be snacking … but it’s the BEST!!!

Can’t get Houlimi cheese here w/o taking out a loan so Mexican bread cheese is the next best thing.

(Running from stupidity) #1096

:frowning:

(Jane) #1097

Would YOU pay $18 for 8 oz (.23 kg) of Houlimi???

Not me !!!

(Jane) #1098

The Mexican bread cheese wasn’t too bad. Already browned on 2 sides. One had jalapeño peppers in it. Yum.

(Running from stupidity) #1099

No chance

:metal::metal::metal::metal::metal:

(Hyperbole- best thing in the universe!) #1100

I gather she would say that an item’s utility is what brings you joy.

(Running from stupidity) #1101

I presume so too, but “joy” is such a foreign concept…

#1102

@Ruina taught me how to to make an Interrobang on my phone. ?+!=‽

(Hyperbole- best thing in the universe!) #1103

I did it by accident the first time.

#1104

HAHAHAHAHA!

(Ellen) #1105
