What did you learn today?

#1046

You can buy all sorts of random crap at Aussie post offices :joy: They’re like ALDI but with stamps!

#1047

No there’s things called sweans, pyjama jeans or ezyjeans which are all soft sweat pants that look almost identical to denim jeans.

(don’t think you can buy them at the post office though)

All you can get at US post offices is a whole lot of attitude.

@ChrisW, holy cow. My world just opened up and I must google all of these things!

When fashion runs out of ideas altogether

#1053

Is that a Balaclivvy or a Scivvyclava?

#1054

They’re both good :joy:

The sweater? Not so much.

(You've tried everything else; why not try bacon?) #1055

Turtlenécklava, for eating baklava in, I assume.

I learned from @PaulL that chickens don’t need roosters to lay eggs - they can do it on their own but the eggs will be infertile. I thought he was pulling our collective leg
(Stop laughing, everyone, I’m a city girl.)

#1057

They don’t got urban chickens where you’re at?

(squirrel-kissing paper tamer) #1058

I don’t need a man to lay an egg. It’s the same thing. Theirs are just on the outside.

(Empress of the Unexpected) #1059

Hey, here is another cool thing I learned today.

For the first time in 12 years, my garden is covered in these. (We have had more rain!) During the winds they kept the dust from blowing all over. I figured they were some type of weed, and was going to pull them, but today I noticed several were flowering. As the article points out, they are edible (I don’t think Chronometer has a carb count for Henbit) and attract my hummers. They are staying.

(squirrel-kissing paper tamer) #1060

You have flowers already? They are cuties!

(Empress of the Unexpected) #1061

So you know about henbit?

(Empress of the Unexpected) #1062

It’s only February - I was surprised.

(squirrel-kissing paper tamer) #1063

I have something that looks similar that grows in my yard. I’m not sure but I think it’s the same thing but we are getting so much rain, then freezing temps, then rain so I don’t think anything is going to come up for a while. Although, Fake Spring did trick the trees in to budding.

(Empress of the Unexpected) #1064

It was weird - one entire large area being populated with henbit. For the first time ever. And, I got two or three wild nettle last year, now the area is covered. All these weeds are great for butterflies and hummingbirds. Also wild mallow. What will the neighbors think?

(Empress of the Unexpected) #1065

Will take a pic tomorrow.
