What did you learn today?

#405

Out of love…

(You've tried everything else; why not try bacon?) #406

The New Yorker made the point, in an article years ago, that coffee made from freshly ground beans is far less likely to include insect parts, because people are more likely to spot them, whereas in pre-ground coffee . . .

(Carl Keller) #407

Coffee grinder companies should use this point to promote their products. I’m honestly not that bothered by it but I know a lot of women who would be if I told them.

#408

for real? you wouldn’t believe the number of women i know who eat crickets all of a sudden. they sell them in the snack section of major grocery stores in my city

(Running from stupidity) #409

Crickets are good sustainable protein!

(Carl Keller) #410

My city needs to import more women from your city. You can’t imagine how many times I’ve been summoned by a frantic female to come remove a bug or spider from inside a house or building. The mere sight of a bug often induces panic in the women around here.

(Running from stupidity) #411

Oh good, white-slaving now.

(Hyperbole- best thing in the universe!) #412

I would think quite good. It’s carnivore after all.

I did accidentally eat half a cockroach once. My bowls were a lovely dark brown color and I didn’t see it in there. I later found a clearly bitten in half cockroach under my eggs. I now own light blue dish ware.

Don’t tell my roommate this happened. She would pack up and leave the country.

(Heather Meyer) #413

Me to my husband : “your such a boy,”

Husband : “yep”…

(Heather Meyer) #414

No panic induced white girl here… inless its a snake. Then im not sticking around for you to label me a “panic induced white girl”.

#415

“Eat less, move more” violates Newton’s First Law of Motion, prove me wrong.

(Doug) #416

The external force is muscles doing more moving than they used to. “Eat less” is sometimes admittedly poor advice.

#417

But what external force is going to get my slothful lazy butt off my couch and not keep watching the 13th episode in a row of my latest show on Netflix? Checkmate.

(Doug) #418

Nothing - if a show is worth watching then it’s good to watch a whole lot of it. And we burn more calories watching TV than if we’re sleeping, eh? :sunglasses:

O’ course, sleeping less in general tends to lower our metabolisms, too…

(Karen) #419

Today I learned…
That you can waste a whole lot of time tracking down a bill to be paid, only to find out that the payment from insurance and the bill can cross in the mail.

I learned that a lot of people at work have plates in their arms or legs.

I learned that if you are persistent enough you can track down an event planner who is not very responsive.

I learned, that for me, carnivore is helpful. Very low carbs today. Eggs bacon kale slaw for breakfast. Game hen quarter and mayonnaise For lunch. Ribeye chunks and blue cheese dressing, and a keto muffin with a little natural peanut butter for dinner. Very full.

I learned that it’s not all that hard to drive with one arm.

(Ellen) #420

That a work colleagues wife is pregnant, cue much baby talk inc “Ellen, you’re almost 40 now, time’s running out, when are you going to find a nice man and settle down?” Sigh

(Running from stupidity) #421

How are your punching skillz?

(Ellen) #422

A bit rusty (it’s been a few years since I could do MMA) but am sure it’ll come back to me pretty easily.

(Running from stupidity) #423

Well, looks like opportunities are popping up all over!

(Hyperbole- best thing in the universe!) #424

I’ve had a taxi driver tell me I’d better get pregnant soon before my parts go bad.
