What Did You Keto Today? Part IV
Awwww @ClareBear, @Momof5 and @KetoSnaps. Thank you for your good wishes and kind words. Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside
…unless I’m getting a temperature
just kidding.
Nooooo!!!
It’s funny (not funny really) - I’m just amazed that bugs still get ‘in’, even amongst the shielded! I had a cold a couple of weeks ago, yet I hadn’t left the house since the beginning of April. I have a whole new respect for germs now, seriously… Of course I’m doing my best to sanitise/quarantine for 72 hours everything that comes into the house (grocery deliveries, post), but still!
Bacon and a Scramble
Cheddar Cheese and Salsa Scrambled Eggs and a Double Espresso.
@CrackerJax Sorry you’re ill, I hope you don’t have COVID. I think I did in Jan-Feb for 25 days although I never was tested because it was a couple weeks before the main wave hit here. I hadn’t been sick in over 10 years and it was nasty!
Thoughts on this? Found it at the store today and wasn’t sure. Kinda pricey at $5.99 per loaf. Thinking if I keep it in the freezer I can use it occasionally, not daily or with every meal. Thought I’d ask all the pros on here though and see what you all think about it
Not so sure I’d label myself as a pro but it depends on why you’re doing keto and several personal choices. Carb wise it’s great although I think the trick possibly being used is adding pure fiber in order to falsely come up with a zero carb count because there’s definitely carbs in there. Also it has quite a few things that generally are recommended to not eat doing keto. Gluten, wheat starch (How is this possibility 0 carbs?) soybean oil and fully hydrogenated soybean oil. If you’re doing KETO for improved health I wouldn’t recommend it and even for weight loss it has some inflammation inducing and insulinogenic ingredients so depends how much. If you’re just having a Sammy now and then when you really miss it it’s probably okay. There’s also lots to alternative things like Chaffels.
@CrackerJax Oh no lovely, you rest up!!! I’m hoping it’s a speedy recovery and not Covid…Take care and remember to do F#ck all.
That’s kinda what I was thinking. There HAS to be carbs in there with that amount of ingredients listed. I’m doing keto right now for weight loss so will only be having this occasionally. I do enjoy Chaffles and am choosing to makes those tonight for a pork tenderloin sandwich instead of the “keto” bread.
Thank you for your input! I appreciate it!
@KetoGal01 I did a little further research on modified wheat starch. Apparently is maltodextrin further made resistant with chemistry to become less digestible. It’s the first ingredient listed. Be observant when you try it.
Resistant dextrin, resistant maltodextrin and other soluble modified starches may cause abdominal bloating and flatulence.
Likely a cold or allergies, but best to be safe. You are too invaluable to get CoVid.
Great! I should’ve listen to my gut and Not even bothered with this stuff! I definitely don’t need bloating or flatulence. My luck, because I’ve also had bariatric surgery, I will probably end up with other issues too.
Thank you again for taking the time to respond and research. You’re awesome!
Another day playing around in the kitchen. I made lasagna and the noodles were made out of cheese. Who’d ever need or want pasta when you can have cheese?
One more item I made today was ‘brownie bark’. They’re supposed to be a copycat of Brownie Brittle. I thought they turned out as expected as far texture and flavor. The sweetener I used was Swerve which is Erythritol. These had that ‘cooling’ after taste sensation for me, which I really dislike. I get the same aftertaste with Lakanto. Does anyone have a way around this? I really love to bake and this is all pretty new to me.
