What did I do?

So last week I was doing goodish, even got a touch of the keto flu, then came game day :face_with_head_bandage:.
I pigged out bad, so if course I was negative Monday morning.

Do Monday I started again, strips are a light purple, no flu yet, hungry most of the time, water weight is falling.

I bought a breathalyzer, of course it is reading negative. I wanted to know if it worked, so I grabbed a bottle of shine, and took a small sip. So I tried the breathalyzer again, and I think it tried to take my keys. So it works.

How long before a breathalyzer will work, started getting dry mouth real bad at times.

Don’t worry about the stumble, everyone stumbles one way or another - so look forward. And keep going forward.

The switch back to keto takes a couple of days.

I have fallen out of keto twice now, both due to hidden carbs. First time it took 3 days for ketones to return, second time 5 days. I can’t explain why it took so long.

Your body must first get rid of any excess glycogen in the muscles and liver. You could exercise to get rid of it quicker.

Meantime just stay below 20g carbs, drink plenty of water, get plenty of salt, just do the keto basics and ketones will return soon enough. Learn for next time.

Keto flu almost always means you are not getting enough salt and water. It’s also likely related to your dry mouth.

Make sure you are getting up to 2 liters of water per day and up to 2 teaspoons of sodium (over the course of the day). Once we cut out carbs, our need for more water and sodium increases.
