What are the facts on flax?

I really don’t care for the taste so have not wanted to use flax. The phytoestrogen thing doesn’t quite sit well with me, even if we male types supposedly don’t have as many receptors.

If someone presents me something that has flax in it, I won’t make the sign of the cross and start calling for an exorcism. I’ll likely have a little if it’s otherwise decent food. But it’s not something I want to make a consistent or regular part of my diet. Just don’t trust it for me. Wouldn’t try to talk anyone into or out of using it, just don’t feel good about using it myself.

Flax is high in Phytate. It is a divalent ion. It can cause mineral deficiencies like calcium and and other minerals. It binds to the minerals in the digestive tract, preventing them from being absorbed. Flax for me causes tooth sensitivity so I no longer use it. Animal fats are superior.
