Went nuts on nuts, how long will it set me back?

(bjørn arne) #1

Was gona have a little nuts while watching tv, and it was so long time since i had a snack and i lost all control and ate the whole bag 150g. Its says 37g of carbs on the back. What kinda price will this come at?

(TJ Borden) #2

37g total for the bag? It probably isn’t going to hurt you at all.

It depends on how long you’ve been keto, if you’re fat adapted, and what else you had for carbs in the day.

(Renee Slaughter) #3

Yeah those nuts are sneaky buggers. But don’t worry pick up and keep it pushing.

(bjørn arne) #4

I was about 13g karb total earlyer today, so its that + 52g carbs from nuts. Chilli nuts, I guess some of them are fiber. I am fat adapted

(bjørn arne) #5

Learned the hardway that i can’t sit down with a bag of nuts and only eat a little:p

(TJ Borden) #6

I wouldn’t sweat it. WORST CASE, it stalls weight loss for a day or two, but I doubt it will even have that much of an effect. KCKO

(bjørn arne) #7

Tnx

(bjørn arne) #8

What does KCKO mean?

(mags) #9

Keep calm and carry on. Wise words I’ve found. If the scales lie or I’m ravenously hungry when everyone says hunger should be a thing of the past or I break a fast or I have a spoon of peanut butter orrrrrr… KCKO is the way to go. The alternative is going back to high blood sugars and the weight starts to pile back on and suddenly all my clothes start shrinking again. KCKO my friend :yum:

Oh and never have a bag of nuts. Take the number that you intend to eat and seal the bag and put it out of sight. My peanut butter is permanently hidden but somehow it appeared before my eyes

I often go nuts on nuts! Especially when driving long distance. Can eat a large tub of 320g in a 6 hr drive but its a once a month thing!

A 1 day blip in your carb level of 37g carbs isn’t going to make much of a difference. Cutting your carbs the next day or getting in a good cardio session will burn through any stores quickly.

What type of nuts because 37g for 150g is high?

You might discover some digestive issues this morning through as those nuts make their way through!

(bjørn arne) #12

chilli nuts  it was 150g totalt i ate, and 37g carbs per 100g

(Allan L) #13

37g per 100g is a very high carb content. Mine are usually around 8g NET carbs per 100g.

Have you subtracted the fibre? Is there added sugar?

For next time, suggest you stock lower carb nuts. :joy::sunglasses:

(bjørn arne) #14

no i havent, and there were no sugar in them. in norway we dont have fiber on the back side of the products so its uknown how mutch or little fiber there is

(Allan L) #15

Work on a 50/50 ratio for nuts, obviously this varies depending on the nut. So you can take that carb number and half it. Even less of an issue now !

Some good online tools will help fill in the gaps with product labelling.

I am so glad to hear that there are others that go ‘nuts on nuts.’ My wife and I often buy a big container of mixed nuts at Aldi (priced right with no peanuts). It’s a little higher in carbs than we’d like, but we do pretty good on anything else. Aldi also has some really tasty spicy pork rinds, with no carbs at all!

(bjørn arne) #17

honestly i dident feel anything except a little guilt maby, had a great day today after the nuts on nuts episode :stuck_out_tongue: i think you can have a “cheat meal” once in a while, aslong as its a healty meal. To bad i cant messure my ketones and how it effected me, becouse i am pretty sure i dident go out of ketosis even. is it posible that i am very tolerant for karbs on keto?

(TJ Borden) #18

A few extra nuts? You and I have a very different idea of what constitutes as cheat meal :joy:

(bjørn arne) #19

i am borderline insain when it comes to my diet :stuck_out_tongue: lol

(Melis Jansen ) #20

From personal experience I think that it helps to have days where I eat extra carbs. I’m not sure if I am in ketosis or not but I know that I am losing a lot of weight so I must be doing something right.
