Weight variations on OMAD

(Eric - The patient needs to be patient!) #1

Been doing OMAD for 2 to 3 days a week for 3 weeks. IF ~18/6 for months.

Yesterday was day 2 in a row of OMAD and for grins I weight myself twice. Dinner last night was refeeding meal and unfortunately was late (7 pm, I go to bed at 8:30 because I get up at 4 am).

Weighed myself this morning before coffee or anything other than some water in the middle of the night.

lbs

  • 225.6 – 4 am Saturday
  • 224.0 – 1 pm Saturday
  • 226.6 – 4 am Sunday

I do take a diuretic for BP in the am and assume that 224 was at least partially responsible and that plus the diuretic action of coffee.

I know I’m losing weight on OMAD/IF since I was at 231 maybe 3 or 4 weeks ago. So I’m not stressing over this.

The big question in my mind is when I’m doing OMAD and IF and occasional 3 meals which weight is the weight that I hang my emotional happy dance marker on? My next goal wt is 200 lbs and then I’m not certain. Might go for 180lbs.

Until OMAD I never thought anything lower than 200 would be possible.

For the record

  • 65 YO
  • 5’ 8"
  • 5’ 10.5" until I started shrinking in older age.

My OMAD and IF is strictly black coffee, green or black tea, and water.

Wish I could tell ya, or provide any additional insight. But It’s hard to say since water weight comes into play so much on a daily basis. … Like for me this morning, I weighed in as I do each Sunday morning for recording purposes, and showed a 5 lb. loss. But, I’m presently fasting, which is also the first fast on a weekend. I usually fast during the work week, so I’m not sure just how much water weight is coming into play on this weigh-in? I’ve never checked or worried about weight fluctuations during fasting, so don’t know how much will come back?

I could easily gain half or more of this back as soon as I start re-feeding? But you never know, sometimes it’s less? … Guess what I’m saying is that it’s hard to know since water weight can fluctuate so much daily, or hell, hourly. (this is why I simply weigh in every Sunday morning, as soon as I get up and before any liquids.)

Sorry I couldn’t add anything of value to your question, guess more of my opinion on it?

thanks Dave. Just weighted myself again after 3 hours, two cups of coffee, 1 cup of tea and a diuretic for BP. Down 0.6lbs. I’m just going to have to go with the overall trend is my friend.

Fat loss (or gain) will be a slower, steady progression. Or you will maintain.

The amount of water your body holds or flushes can easy vary by 2 or 3 lbs on any given day.

That’s my understanding anyway.

Eric, I guess I’ve always set a subconscious threshold of 5 lbs. When I reached 225, everything under that was fine. When I passed 220, anything below that was okay, and so forth. But if I went back over that 5 lbs threshold, then I’d get worried and decide it was time to fast or switch up my schedule.

You need to get an inversion chair, and stretch your spine back out!
