Thank you for all your tips. I just ordered the book from Thrift books so I will read it shortly.
Did you just stop losing without having to change anything? I realize regaining can definitely happen but I’m wondering about losing too much. I’m not in danger of that as I still have a little fat on my thighs, but just wondering. Will body recomposition happen where I have more muscle and less fat?
I continue to IF most days, do I need to eat more of anything to not lose more?
Weight Maintenance- Introduce yourself!
I have only added a few more berries, the occasional half of an apple or pear, I ate fresh figs when they were at the market. I eat anywhere between 20 to 50 grams of carbs, mostly the lower end of that range. I have cut down on coconut oil, since my gene/snp report says my body has a hard time breaking that down. I use more avocado oil now. In terms of total fats, I think I eat around the same amounts most days.
Otherwise, I eat pretty much the same things as while losing. Roughly the same macros, but I don’t really track them. So far I only had one day when I was over my goal weight, and that was recently. I just fast back down to my range and then carry on as usual, including IFIng most days with 36-48 hr fasts occasionally and doing the monthly Zornfast.
I wear smaller bras, shirts, and pants than I have when I was this weight earlier in my life, I think I have had some natural recomp happening.
Sounds good. Then I’ll just keep eating the way I have been.
I sure hope I don’t go down anymore on my bra size or I’ll have to order barbie ones.
Weight maintenance is new to me because when I lost weight in the past on many diets, I just gained the weight back. I have been obese most of my adult life.
I started Keto in Sept '17 so just pasted the one year anniversary.
I didn’t start Keto to lose weight so the weight loss was a huge bonus. I lost 50 lbs in the first 4 months, and an additional 30 lbs the following 6 months, for a total of 80 lbs.
Maintenance Weight: 182 lbs
Height: 5’-10"
Age: 61
BMI: 26.1
BF: 17%
My maintenance strategy so far has been to stick to Keto and do the Zornfast every month. I weight myself a couple times a week. My weight has gone over or under 182 lbs by a few pounds but seems to always come back to 182 lbs. Seems to me that’s where my body wants to be.
I am now so interested in weight maintenance because I want to keep the weight off and appreciate the support from this forum! I love this WOE and don’t plan on changing…ever!
Karen, your success with weight maintenance is inspirational!
I love this forum and appreciate all the support!
Dave, good job and weight loss wasn’t even your goal. I love that.
I still do some IFing and Zornfast each month, a few 36 - 48 hrs. when my weight bounces up more than I like. Best to keep on top of those bounces. I have a 3 lbs range I try to stay in all the time now, it is the 3 lbs below my goal weight. There will always be bounces I think, but I do think we can stay within a range and be just fine.
