Weight Loss Help

(MRV) #1

Hello,

I’ve been doing Keto for a month now. I’ve lost 25lbs and feeling pretty good. This week I decided to do Intermittent Fasting. (16hr fast, eat from 8am - 4pm). I was down 5lbs the first couple of days, but now the last 4 days I can’t seem to lose anymore weight. I even tried a 24 hour fast yesterday and that didn’t make a difference.

I’m eating 1,300 calories a day, 110g of Fat, 90g of Protein, 5 carbs) I’m 42, 6’1’, 225lb. I’m working out 3 days a week burning 500 calories each time.I would appreciate any tips on how to jump start my weight loss again.

Thanks,

Aside from making sure you’re not under eating, I wouldn’t worry about it. Four days is nothing, you’re not going to lose weight every day.

I know but we’re in a biggest loser contest at work and I want to win. hahaha. I do think I’m under eating. I did the keto calculator and based on my age and weight, I should be eating 1,819 calories, 135g fat, 126g of protein, and 22g carbs. I’ve ready don’t count the calories. If I just focus on hitting the fat, protein, and carb totals, will that be ok?

Just focus on eating until you’re satisfied, keeping carbs under 20g net and getting adequate protein. Eat when you’re hungry, don’t eat when you’re not.

(You've tried everything else; why not try bacon?) #5

Seriously, what @anon2571578 said. As long as you’re keeping the carbohydrate under the limit and eating enough protein and fat to satisfy your hunger, you’re golden.

If you use the forum search function, I’ll bet you will find hundreds, if not thousands of threads started by people who aren’t losing weight as they think they should.

Is it more important to win a temporary contest at work? Or make a lasting change to improve your health? Just keep your carbs low and do NOT restrict calories. It will only sabotage you in the end.

The biggest winner is the one who keeps losing without gaining it back. Your metabolism is not worth sacrificing.

Well, stop eating until it’s over. That’ll work.Get your salt and electrolytes in, though.

Did I ever tell the tale of when last year our work held a Biggest Loser contest and they let a pregnant woman enter? Guess who landed in first place, forcing me into fourth place and missing out on one of the Top Three prizes? Guess who is still really bitter about that and will never join such a challenge again?

“Dr” Berg?

Wait - you lost 25lbs in a month and you’re somehow worried about that? How fast did you initially gain it? Your body is probably telling you it’s shed all the water weight it can and now it’s preparing to fight you a little on the rest.

He would’ve told me I could beat the pregnant woman if I’d just eaten 7-9 cups of veggies.

He’s the guy who reported that 1 cup (~237 ml) of artichokes had 269 grams of carbohydrates.

That quantity of artichokes only weighs about 160 to 170 grams in total.

Does me flagging it as spam give you a hint?
