My boss at work just sent out an email to our team about starting a weight loss challenge to start on January 9th. I’m joining to help keep in line with keto. Does anyone feel as if being keto puts us at a better advantage to win a weight loss challenge because of this?
Weight loss Challenges
I won $300 a couple years back going keto. Vinnie Totorich does this with his clients as well. High fat, near-zero carbs, moderate protein, and zone-2 cardio. It’s almost like cheating compared to other methods!
Keto is great for a weight loss challenge, and a challenge, at least for me, is great motivation to keep going. I worked for a place that did one every year, and I came in first or second every year, always using low carb (didn’t know keto). Unfortunately, and as is often the case, my starting weight was the same every year, lose 30 pounds during the challenge, add it back in the fall/winter.
I plan on not ever having to do another.
I just finished a weight loss challenge, I think I dropped 10lbs, was supposed to lose at least 5. All the money went into a pool in the beginning of the challenge, so all the people who lost at least 5lbs split the pool.
I feel like I was at a great advantage with Keto! Fairly effortless by keeping the carbs low, not too much protein, and good fats even with all the holiday get togethers.
No time frame on this. Bi-weekly weigh ins which is great for keto eaters. I’m already doing DDP Yoga and was planning on adding weight lifting and cardio twice a week.
Work weight loss challenge here starting this year as well… we are versus another local company.
Everyone is talking about how they are eating different and changing things… and I am just eating Bacon and Cheddar cheese. It feels great that I am not going to do anything “different” for this work team-building exercise.
I won a weight loss challenge at work several years ago doing low carb and I was probably in ketosis although I didn’t know much about it then. Everyone else was starving and I felt great! It did feel like cheating. I’m going to ask my coworkers if they want to do one now. Great idea!!
My boss never said how long the challenge is for. I will have to ask tomorrow.

A tip for the initial weigh-in courtesy of Vinnie Tortorich: Drink a ton of water before the weigh in to add weight. A gallon of water weighs over 8 pounds! Is that cheating?
Currently in the middle of a Biggest loser competition at work. It runs from Dec 1 to April 1. I don’t think anyone else is going Keto, The company is paying for 4 months of WW membership… I do feel like I have an unfair advantage, we’ll see how it ends up, I know I’ll do fine but don’t know if I’ll win it. % weight loss… I might have downed 4 bottles of water before the weigh in… Grand prize…$1000. It’s Mine, Mine, Mine.
The rules come out Monday. There are 10 of us; 8 women, 2 men. I’m pretty sure I am the only ketonian. I know one guy is paleo, the other guy eats clean. Myself and both males currently workout. I won’t be in the office Monday as I need a day to myself, sans people at home. When I get in Tuesday, I will let everyone know what the rules are.
