Weight gain?

(Dasha ) #1

I’ve been keto since October. I initially lost about 10 lbs after starting and feel 100% better. Since I was breastfeeding I wasn’t losing weight at all (totally normal for me. I never lose while nursing). I stopped nursing last month and since gained about 8 lbs. I started tracking again and I’m within my macros and my calories at a deficit. Anyone had a similar experience? I think I’m back to actually losing weight now but it’s hard to tell :joy:

Also I’ve been feeling nauseas and outright getting sick lately after eating. It’s not keto flu since I’ve been eating this way for a few months now.

Do you track your food and drink? If you could post 3 days or so of what’s coming in, that would give something for us to peruse and perhaps spot something that could be tripping you up.

You have a lot of hormonal adjustment your body needs to make. I’d wait it out a bit longer and continue your ketogenic diet as normal. I am confident once readjusted, your body will allow more weight loss. It also HIGHLY depends on many other factors: insulin resistance, amount of weight you need to lose, etc.

I tend to agree with @Brenda. This is a huge time of upheaval for your body. Focus on the important things - that you feel great. Apart from the nausea. I would just journal what you eat daily and when you feel sick and see if any patterns emerge. This is a momentous time and pretty incredible. I don’t have children but admire the hell out of women who go through this and do something so remarkable. xxx

Any chance you are pregnant? Hope you feel better soon.

`I’m not pregnant for sure. I’m just really nauseas in the middle of the night. I’m not really sure how to upload photos

I was not on a keto diet when I quit nursing but my hormones were a mess for a few months afterwards. Maybe that is contributing to the nausea and weight gain? I hope you feel better soon!
