Week three of Keto diet - finally urine strips show ketones, - when do I become "fat adapted"?

I’m on week three of my keto diet, and finally ketones are showing up in my urine tests.

I tjhink its about week 4 or 5 that my body oficially goes into “fat adaptation”… is this about right?
I know every person is different, but that the approximation.

I’m trying to get my fat intake up by taking 2 x tbsp of olive oil now and again.

Benefits so far:
feeling less hungry between meals
slight increased mental sharpness
slightly increased physical energy
lost some weight

But some cramps, one or two headaches… nothing really bad as I am supplementing magnesium, potassium (sometimes) and getting salt.

Its a gradual process, it’s down to how fast your body can make ketones and then burn them for energy. When I went keto the first 2-3 weeks I felt tired walking up stairs or a hill, but then that became fine. Running took longer, maybe 6-8 weeks before I could go for a 5km run at the same pace as before keto. After about 3-4 months I could run a fasted half marathon. It’s a gradual improvement after that really - it’s something you really notice “happen” one day, at least it wasn’t for me.

I think the average is more like 6-8 weeks. It’s a gradual process.

I’m 9 weeks in tomorrow and I’m pretty confident I’m 90% there.

But some do it in less and some take longer.

Getting a Precision Xtra Blood Meter to measure your level of adaption is an excellent way to know if you are in an optimal range. Urine sticks measure what ketones your body excretes-blood measures what ketones your body uses.
