Week 3 gain weight and inches!

Whenever someone says “believe me” I instantly do not believe them. Believe me is for cult leaders and snake oil salesmen. You are recommending an extreme measure for someone we don’t have a lot of information on. Many people in this forum alone didn’t start with fasting until later and then only with lower fasting levels like 16/8 and that usually comes naturally from keto itself. We don’t have test results to definitely indicate that her fasting insulin is high and we have plenty of other reasons to think she has other things to work on first before fasting is a great idea.

(Stephanie Sablich) #24

You’re making an awful lot of assumptions here. Fasting is an excellent tool, yes. But it has to be applied appropriately, and the body has to be able to deal with it appropriately. Fasting can always be added in after the body adapts, but to just yell at someone to start fasting without knowing anything about their metabolic situation is dogmatic and off-putting.

(Aj Schick) #25

The only thing about fasting for me is the mental haze. As I work in a hospital lab, I really can’t be hazy when trying to report the correct lab results for patients. That’s why I haven’t fasted for a full day.

(Aj Schick) #26

I took no offense to your opinion at all. I really like that you were blunt and honest.

(Ernest) #27

Let’s conduct ourselves as adults please!

(Jay AM) #28

I really hope keto and fasting continues to work for you. I’ll still be here helping people.

Your averaging 1000 calories and less a day? That’s nuts for anybody that isn’t in bed all day. You say the hospital was busy, are you a Nurse? Because Nurses run around like lunatics all day and that would be severely under fueling yourself, Also, it looks like a lot or random things and no real meals, you NEED nutrition, it’s not just about hitting some guess of a macro scheme. Two things I caught right away was the Whey and the Nuts, Nuts screw with a lot of people and Whey CAN be in the wrong case. Many people have made whey look like the devil, it’s not and if your going to the gym it’s great for muscle development but if not don’t take it. For protein supplementation take something slow like Cassien if your not working out and taking it pre workout. Also, really make sure your getting in enough fat, because I see a lot of stuff and can’t see all your macros but I see a lot of lower fat things like pork loin, turkey pepperoni, etc. There’s the heavy cream, sour cream and butter but those seem to be your only good fat sources, you need real food too and not just filler. I think your under fueling and that a sure fire recipe to slow yourself down. Do you workout out? High activity at work?

I get the mental haze issue. I’m a semi truck driver and no one wants a hazy semi truck driver. The fasting actually started happening for me naturally. I regularly fast 16 hours or more just because I am not hungry. Some days though, I am starving and don’t hit 16. I just listen and do what I’m told.

(Aj Schick) #31

I work in the lab so I’m mainly sitting all day at a mircroscope and I am unable to workout right now cuz of a knee injury.

(Bea ) #32

You all have no idea what High Fasting Insulin is. So I can not help any of you.

(Stephanie Sablich) #33

I just want to say that I hear you, and I am so happy you are reaching out here for support. This community is (mostly) wonderful and supportive, filled with people who want you to succeed. Having a busy job/life and a lack of in-person support complicates things- I’m in the same boat.

Please please please keep coming here. I don’t think you sound whiny, I think you sound frustrated. That’s okay  I promise we’ll work with you to find a solution. You’ve got this!

(Stephanie Sablich) #34

Bahahahaha more of the assumptions. Okay then. Best of luck to you, Bea Bea. I think many of us are doing just fine without the “help” you are offering.

(Karl) #35

OK Good. It seems the older I get, the more I actually like finding out I was wrong about stuff

(TJ Borden) #36

Killjoy…now what am I going to do for entertainment this evening

(TJ Borden) #37

Most of us are very familiar with high fasting insulin, but with the limited info we have here, there’s no way to know if that’s the issue.

(Omar) #38

Three weeks on a 25 grams of carbs/1100 C and you gained weight. :scream:

Something does not make sense.

(Jay AM) #39

Well, many of us would agree that calories in, calories out doesn’t make sense. It is possible to gain weight when not eating enough calories. It’s also possible to gain weight for other reasons like low sodium or potassium intake.
