Hi all looking for a little direction. I’m eating a heavy cream keto shake for breakfast, basic salad at lunch or hamburger protein style and dinner is usually steak.

I’m not losing weight, what seems to happen after 4 days of feeling terrible I give up n by a monster energy.

I don’t look me most foods other meat n cheese. That doesn’t help.

If I could just get into ketosis I think I would be able to stay. My carbs are maybe 30-40 grams a day.

How long have you ben doing Keto? You might want to lower carbs to under 20, and see if you make progress.

Also, the process takes a while. Drink a lot of water, and added sea salt. That should help. The “Keto flu” will pass.

I am drinking tons of unsweet ice tea and taking electrolyte salt pills.

Do you think the breakfast heavy cream, almond milk and a scoop of high protein low carb is a good thing?

I started about 4 weeks agoha, then failed about 4 days in, and that has happen too many times.

I’d probably opt for a couple eggs versus protein powder. Real food is always best, plus you get even more fat. I LOVE HWC, but you have to watch the volume. A cup is about 7 grams of carbs.

30-40 is definitely high to start. You might be able to get away with that once you’re fat adapted, but for now, your body is craving carbs and 40 grams is probably enough that your system isn’t going to give up on carbs and look to fat for energy instead.

I had to google HWC lol but I am for sure using a cup every morning. First problem. Next is my carbs, being a pain the a$$ picky eater under 20 carbs is easy. Nothing worth anything is not easy. I gotta keep my head in the game.

thx for your thoughts

Electrolytes like athletes take during a long race, or salt tablets? Things like Nuun and Endurolytes don’t have nearly enough salt in them to help with “keto flu.” You need to drink a lot of water and intake 4-5 grams of sodium (not salt; salt is 40% sodium and 60% chloride) a day. This means drinking water with salt in it, licking salt off your hand several times a day, salting all your food, and/or taking salt tablets (like a gram of salt each, which will provide 400 mg of sodium).

And EAT LESS CARBS. Maximum 20 grams. The less carbs you eat the faster you’ll get into ketosis and the faster you’ll become fat-adapted.

Don’t give up! KCKO.
