You will tone your leg muscles regardless of the speed at which you walk. Speed will work your cardiovascular system as well.

You might want to add some strength training (planks, squats, lunges, yoga) a couple of times a week. It has worked for me and helps me maintain my loss as well. Walking is my first love, yoga, then squats, etc.
