Just a couple years ago I started canning, and it is very helpful for things like broths which are time intensive to make. It takes a little extra time, but I will make it in a large pot and put up 12-20 quarts.
Frustrated… So I am just over 3 weeks in. I was down 11lbs on the 3rd. Then 13lbs on the 10th. and now back to only 11 since then gaining 2lbs back. I had trouble with this before and was why I gave up early on a few years ago. When I was younger this WOE worked great but I wasn’t having hormone issues (or other problems) then either. I am not eating many vegetables (some cucumber is about all 1c or less a day) but am using sf ketchup with erythritol (just enough for flavor) had some sf jello, ranch dressing (not a lot), processed cheese (not a lot only 2 slices a day at most on a McDonalds bunless burger -5 carbs ea- and lost weight on those days) but cut most of that out as soon as I noticed the scale wasn’t doing what I wanted it to do. (was still under 20 net carbs) I did take Omeperazol on two inconsecutive days for my heartburn around this time which became unbearable. Was using Alka-Seltzer and ACV/water prior which kept it mostly at bay. I have read that this Omeperazol some to slow their weight loss???
Also I was recently started on BP medicine. I tried to avoid it but to no avail for now. Still monitoring intermittently to see how it goes. I can only hope this isn’t part of the problem. I am also contemplating stopping my birth control (used as HRT) to see what happens. My cycle was horrendously heavy before this with hair loss, raging hormones, and other issues. But if keto is going to bring additional estrogen to the party from fat stores, it may be that it isn’t necessary and complicating things??? My Dr. had no problem with me stopping before (wasn’t eating keto at the time) as my concern was that it would cause other side effects/problems such as my climbing cholesterol, weight gain and gall bladder issues.
Husband and I are having our valentines dinner tonight. I was on the fence about eating what I should vs what I wanted. I decided if I had lost again this morning I would behave, but I didn’t. So I’ve decided am going to eat what I want tonight and get back on the horse tomorrow starting with my coffee HWC & Premier Protein creamer & erythritol/stevia blend in the am and bone broth until I need to eat and then fat fast after until the am of the 15th at a minimum.
I know we all go back and forth on the scale but I didn’t expect to be +/- so early on for 10 days with needing to loose so much and only being down 11 lbs. I don’t have a food scale but may just need to get one and also will start tracking everything in a journal to see what happens with my weight in relation to what I am consuming and medications.
Is it my macros, the keto friendly foods, the Omeprazole, the hormones?
Thoughts?
My thought is that you have several medical issues with attending medication for each. I believe you need a medical consult. There are keto/fast friendly doctors around, it would be worthwhile finding one.
I have huge respect for the experience and knowledge of many here. But I believe that in some cases, a personal medical consult might be of value as well as the wisdom here.
Whoa. It’s no wonder you’re having issues, your cortisol level must be through the roof! RELAX.
You have some experience, and that should help, but don’t overthink everything. DITCH THE SCALE. Your metabolism is damaged, and possibly your gut. You need to heal before you’re going to lose weight. If you love your hubby and want to stick around to be with him, love yourself enough to ditch all those things you listed that might be causing issues, and stick to the basic keto plan. INCLUDING TONIGHT. You will feel awful tomorrow if you indulge emotional eating tonight; don’t you agree? You can have a lovely, appetizing dinner that doesn’t hurt you if you just plan ahead. After tonight, under 20g carbs (you have that in hand! ), moderate protein, fat to satiety (keeping in mind that you have to be wary of “emotional hunger.”).
Here is where the motto of these forums will come in handy: Keep Calm, Keto On!

I make big batches in my pressure cooker; I freeze 2-cup portions, then keep one in the fridge, and when I use it I transfer a frozen one to the fridge. Easy peasy.
WooHoo! The scale MOVED! Down 2lbs. I just looked back at my notes and I have been doing this since last October, I’ve had minimal weight loss. It seems like everything throws me off balance, so it’s been getting very discouraging. The minute I get stressed I stop sleeping, then I start to panic, if I don’t sleep I won’t lose, which isn’t necessarily true, because I am still sleeping more now than I was.
Finally got a glucose monitor, now I can find out what’s going on with blood sugars.
Feeling optimistic today.

I started Keto the beginning of January. I had no problem with the transition and was feeling better almost immediately. I followed the Paleo diet up till about three years ago, so I knew I’d be feeling much healthier. To date I have to say I have not lost much, maybe 5 lbs, but my clothes are certainly feeling looser so, something is happening.
I’m sixty four, and it doesn’t take much to envision a future where you have no energy, spark or mobility, and I don’t want to go there. I have about 40lbs to lose and this rate it will take awhile but I’m not too worried. I was logging my food for the first week. I’m not much of a record keeper, so once I thought I had a good idea of what I should be doing I let that drop. Maybe I should take that on again.

I feel like its my last chance also Karen. I have been fighting this weight and this uncontrollable hunger for so long I’m not sure I’ll have another fight in me if this doesn’t work. At least this time I am actually adding foods in instead of just taking more foods away. Although walking thru walmart I sometimes have the urge to buy a big cake, then I look up and see some one overweight and struggling to walk and I remember why I am doing this.
I live in San Jose CA. I couldn’t believe the price! Getting ready for another Pot of broth today, I’m on my last frozen cup of chicken broth.
I was excited today I found organic bone broth at walmart for 1.68 a box… then looked and found out it had 2 carbs per cup will be looking elsewhere until I can make some.
I ate what I wanted last night. Not emotional eating. Just enjoyed a meal of things I missed. Up 2 lbs and thirsty which is to be expectef considering. Feel ok though. Back on track regardless.
The only one I found so far was at a weight loss clinic. Going to look and see what my insurance will pay.
