Very variable belly fat?

I’m doing ADF and sort of fascinated with my belly fat. When doing a sit-up after a day of IF eating, I have a double handful of belly fat (in other words, subcutaneous fat, not visceral). Just before my refeeding 40 hours later, I may have only a single handful - it’s also very apparent from how my pants fit, not just a subjective feeling. Eat my two meals, the volume comes back, fast, it goes away again. I guess this could be water weight but it seems an odd place to store it, this is definitely not visceral fat or bulk in my intestines, it’s right under the skin. I am steadily losing weight, but it just comes back in this one area. Anyone else notice anything like this?

Your tissues expand as you store water, pretty sure that is what is going on. The tisdues around fat cells hold onto water very readily, your just cycling from depleting fluid to replenishing it in those cells.

Makes sense, but I drink so much (salted) water when I’m fasting! I wonder why I’d retain it when I’m eating normally but not during a fast.

Same thing happens to me! I do think it’s water weight, and I have no idea why it likes to be there in particular. Probably just to annoy me.

Yeah, if it has to come back, why couldn’t it choose my boobs and my face?

I’d prefer it on my butt, actually. I could use a little junk in the trunk. LOL

Some kind of food intolerance causing inflammation and bloating?
