please help… i started the keto pills w/no instructions on 8/9, NO affects whatsoever!!! after investigating i realized i needed to try low carb keto. I think I’m messing it Up!!! BAD!!! ughhh n it’s soooo expensive… ok, so first… i’ve always been a person that gets nausea in morning but coffee always held me off till i got to work n ate (if not I would grab a cracker)… CAN’T do that now… my coffee was 1/2 french vanilla creamer n 1/2 coffee… SO now… I’m nausea all morning even throw up mucus sometimes… ANYWAY… I do drink a lot of water, a green tea and a BAI a day… not sure why i wouldn’t have enough WHATEVERS w/that… but willing to listen… LAST nite was a heart breaker… i tried making that keto cheddar bread… I TRIED it… big mistake??? I usually only eat breakfast round 9:30-10:00 am n then lunch round 2-3pm, hadn’t been eating at nite… Well last nite I thought… i would try making this supposedly bread thing THEN thought, well maybe I’m not losing as much cause I’m not eating as much… so I tried this weird creation, that to me, is more like an omelet than bread, but tasted good… BUT because of the KETO PILLS suppressing my appetite I only ate 1/2. then came this morning depression… i got on the scale… so sad to report that somehow i gained 3 lbs since Monday!!! (today being Wednesday)… i am devastated, depressed, disgusted and so on… i have spent so much $$$ trying this stuff n still no good for me…
Very nausea (can it be from going in and out of Ketosis)
What exactly is a keto pill? First off take a deep breath. If you would like some help from this community let’s start with your stats (age, weight, height, existing health issues, etc) and also state why you decided to start this keto journey and what your goals are. Remember breath. This is a marathon.
Hi Crissy. Before I started keto I would get nausea from not eating.
Some posts I have read suggest the nausea could be carb withdrawal
At about 10 days I was feeling listless. Though I’ve never seen it recommend here I had a few extra carbs and it went away by morning.
Where I feel I can be of most help is your comment about it being expensive. Can you please tell me more about that?
KETO Advanced was advertised by Shark Tank, I am a sucker… i fell for it… when i realized it was a scam I was already in $200… then I read about KETO lifestyle eating… so i thought it can’t hurt… ughhh…
I am 52, 5ft 2in, I weighed 191 when i took pic of scale when i received pills… this morning i was back to 182!!! as you see there was a lot in between…
I think i started low carbs two weeks after the pills… I’ve been very confused bout what to eat, how much, how long… all of it but was doing it… and for a month I lost 10lbs, everyone said that was perfect, 2lbs a month… i think it sucks w/all the $$$ it’s costing… bringing me to here… can’t decide if i’m eating too much, too less, if I’m getting sick from going in and out of ketosis cause YES I had some coffee cause i am so stinking tired… ughhh … tired of being tired… carbs give u energy…
i had to buy all new stuff… seasonings i wouldn’t of thought of, n i like to cook…lol… almond / coconut stuff galore… still working on all that stuff n trying to find it cause i’m on the east coast n i think this is a west coast low carb lifestyle… the sugars??? omgosh… i think i look like one of those people on the WALMART camera trying to figure out some of this stuff… i’m talking to myself n anyone that walks by…
i wish i could say it was on new clothes cause everything is falling off…
I was tired the first 2 weeks. The standard mantra I’ve seen here is carbs under 20g, adequate protein fat till saitey(sp).
I aim for 20g or less of carbs but frequently go closer to 50g a day. I don’t get hangry or sick from being hungry anymore so I must be doing something right (imho).
I also don’t worry anymore about anything but how many carbs I’m eating.
So if I understand right you don’t find the actual food expensive.
the stuff to make the new foods i’m trying to introduce… I would really like to make the bread, treats n such and the healthier products to make these with are way more expensive than the junk that made me fat… lol… but in everyday eating of eggs, bacon, burgers, salmon all the same price i’d been paying… oh… cause a lot of the stuff i can’t find and would have to buy online…
Ok food issues. Once you get the hang of it it should get easier. I don’t do a lot of baking because yes almond flour is pricey.
I got some almonds in a food box I’m going to grind up to make brownies. I did it before and they were great.
I personally use generic Splenda for sweetener. I drink butter coffee with Splenda and half n half alot.
I use half n half because hwc (heavy whipping cream) is so expensive.
Many use kerrygold butter. It’s awesome but expensive. I tried a few other butters and challenge is almost as good.
It will be challenging at first but learn your local sales cycles and take advantage of them. Look for marked down/ clearance items too.
I recently got 2 big bags of charcoal for $6 total. They were marked down because the bags were ripped.
If you use it buy as many extra as you can. Even if it means having to cut back somewhere else. I once found trash bags on sale and bought a bunch. That was 5 months ago. I am just now needing trash bags again.
Once you get a good stock pile it will get easier.
Many say just go cold turkey on bread. I can’t. I use carb balance tortillas.
When I shop online I use eBay alot and look for free shipping. Some places offer free shipping with minimum purchase. I almost always buy the minimum to get free shipping or nothing.
Oh also id stop taking the keto pills. You might have an electrolite imbalance but I’m not confident enough to tell you how to fix it.
Some take supplements. Some use ketoaide. There is a recipe here somewhere. Also pink salt is mentioned alot
but they r the only thing that help suppress my appetite… if not for them… i’d eat all day…lol almost thou…
So why did you start your keto journey and what are your goals? Do you track what you eat? I found it very helpful in the beginning to track what I ate so that I created a baseline for myself as well as giving me a starting point for troubleshooting. I used a free app called carb manager. I also have to ask this, but how much research did you perform prior to starting or was it merely on a whim based on a shark tank episode. A basic understanding of the process is invaluable. Myself I read ‘The obesity code’ by Jason fung. This book completely changed my understanding of insulin resistance, which is at the root of many metobolic issues including obesity and type 2 diabetes. And please for heavens sake breath! I can feel the panic in your writing. You haven’t done anything wrong. There is nothing that you’ve done that can’t be tweaked. You are taking steps towards better health. This is a good thing.
Yes, those are the pills although my bottle is different color… Came w/no instructions and the people on tv said you didn’t need to change your eating habits…I started taking the pills on 8/9/18, but was trying to figure out why the weight wasn’t flying off like they promoted so i started looking up keto and it kept coming up to the keto low carb lifestyle… after my 100th call to the keto pill people, w/no help, i decided to try low carb… i think i’m following right, i am always looking things up n follow that cute keto couple…lol… i have no idea bout electrolyte imbalance or macros or that other stuff… too much… BUT i did forget to mention, i have always had some sort of nausea even before this, but the coffee and or cracker would get rid of it… OH YEAH… i stopped my blood pressure meds in June to no insurance AND now I want to get my numbers REALLY good so i can ask the doc to run my blood work to see what she thinks… i really really do not want to go back on them!!!
How BAD can the amount of rice flour in the pills B??? i think these pills are helping me not b hungry, NOT the food change…
Frank, I have 3 kids (sorta, my daughter is 25 w/my 1st grandson and I have a 13 yr old boy) I want to live for…
I am so overloaded on low carb information… too much probably
I’m angry cause I have been trying so hard to follow this and it doesn’t seem to work for me… i just hope it eventually shows up and especially at the doctors office…
I’m sure i’m not doing something right, still work in progress…
Just a suggestion - simplify. Keto diets are not that complicated.
- Throw out the pills.
- Go here and print this out. It’s as reasonable an approach as any other. It’s from Dr. Westman at Duke University. https://www.dietdoctor.com/se/wp-content/2014/10/no_sugar_no_starch_diet.pdf
- Start at 20 g of carbs a day. Stay there.
- Here is an index of what foods have what carbs. You can use it for reference. There are many others online. http://www.med.umich.edu/1libr/MEND/CarbList.pdf
- Relax
I don’t know what those pills are but you DO NOT need them for keto. The most important thing is to keep your carbs low … Less than 20g per day. Eat a moderate amount or protein and fat until you are full. You may eat more than normal at first as your body adapts…that is ok! You want to fuel your body with real food. Keto will naturally make you feel full longer. Eat simple things like chicken thighs or steak or beef and green veggies and add butter or another fat. It doesn’t need to be expensive. If you buy a bunch of keto friendly ‘replacements’ that could get spendy…but those items are not required.
Just relax and eat real food. You can still drink coffee you just can’t add sugary creamer in it.
