I complained to my doctor about slight pain in my kidneys and burning sensation when urinating. To give him all the input he needs I told him I am on keto.

He said WHAT? :grinning:

Me : a famous diet

The doctor : Never heard of it.

Me : Basicly 0 carbs and more fat than protein.

The doctor :Why would you do that to your body.

Now I am on the defend side :joy:

Just reporting back.

First of all I do thank you everyone that responded, Day was dark and just that little push made me to arrive to other side.

Couple things happened

  1. I overdid potassium, as I eat spinach and avocados and a bit other green leaves no need to supplement potassium. Without supplements I was hitting about 3000-3500mg. I stopped supplement and heart beating settled down.
  2. One thing I majorly fcked up was that it was day two without coffee and that by itself would make me feel like shit.

There is one small issue left odd pain in kidney but I understand that’s due to acidity. Am having lemon juice and bi carb soda to deal with that.

Energy wise I am blasting, sleep is normalising too. I will go for one more week and if everything improves will do post about everything I did wrong.

Thnx to community

I’m really happy to hear it’s improving for you!

The blueberries might not be as high in sugar as you think. Cronometer and nutritiondata.self.com both say 150 g of fresh blueberries is 15 g of sugar and 18 g net carbs.

Good news. Glad you stuck it out! Sometimes it can be mental too…it’s not a small change and you don’t owe any of us a write up of what you did wrong. Sounds like your’e going to make note of what to do differently instead. Glad you’re feeling better!

So I walked in to see doc, was all thinking once I say how much carbs I eat - Response will be to eat some carbs.

Me: Hi doc, I came to talk about low carb
Doc: yeah
Me: Like 20g and less
Doc: yeah, I do it too.

Could not believe my luck, had long chat. He is doing all bloodwork to do proper checkin.

 and you did not own me to respond to my comment, but you did. My time to pay forward.

Wow, how amazing your doc is low carb too!

How much exercise are you doing? 25g of carbs before a high intensity workout like boxing is totally fine and unlikely to knock you out of ketosis because you burn it straight off.

(Maigais) #32

Doing a fair bit, cycling weights kickboxing…

(Miss E) #33

could be that you’re in too much of a fat or calorie deficit

As others have said here, hydration and electrolytes are an issue. I had similar experiences to yours and noticed that my resting heart rate was creeping up as well. I then discovered through a medical test that I was quite dehydrated. I started tracking my water intake and being conscious of drinking at least 100 ounces of water over the course of the day. I also add about two teaspoons of pink salt to my water, spread out as well. I noticed immediate results. Resting HR back down to normal, sleep better, feel terrific. I do also take a bit of added magnesium and zinc. Definitely helps me.
