Unsure

Hi I am new here. I have sucessfully lived the low carb lifestyle for years. During that time I felt my best. Although I slipped back into carb eating and the past 8-10 years have been extremely stressful. I am trying to get back into ketosis but just not sure if I am. I started the first week of January. I am not much of a weigher…I’d really rather not start. Any tips or reccomendations for tests? Breathyzer? Blood? What about exogeneous ketones? Good or bad?

For tests, initially, and also the cheapest option are urinalysis test strips (Ketostix). Their effectiveness starts to decline after a few weeks. A blood monitor will give more accurate and consistent readings, but is also a lot more expensive.

The general consensus about exogenous ketones is that provided you’re following a standard ketogenic diet plan of 75% fat, 20% protein and 5% carbs (<20g per day) as a guideline then you should be making enough ketone bodies on your own to satisfy your energy needs, thus negating the need to supplement. My opinion would be to save your money and buy better quality Real Food.
