I am Keto adapted and my fasting schedule (at the moment) is 24 hours/3 days per week. Recently, on a fasting day, I had a very major, unexpected stressor during a fast. I was dizzy, could not think, was proverbialy paralyzed. As I am well acquainted with panic attacks, all of these symptoms are normal, and not a result of fasting or Ketosis. My question is, What does cortisol do to the fasting body? Should I ride out the panic attack and continue the fast? Or does that high level of cortisol render the fast useless?

How do you know that cortisol was a factor?
The quick and easy would be to add electrolytes into your fasting days, salt.

Fasting is very easy for me as I have "worked my fasting muscles." My sodium intake is north of 2000 mg on fasting days. I guess I only assume it to be cortisol, based on the timing of the panic attack. In “The Complete Guide to Fasting,” cortisol was mentioned, however, I’m finding it difficult to find resources on the impact of a fast if too much cortisol, from an external stimuli, is present.
