If you haven’t seen it yet, you should take a look at Stephen Phinney’s discussion of some of the negative effects of fasting:
Two weeks in with some weird observations
The weirdest thing I’ve noticed is that before Keto, I was a mosquito magnet. I couldn’t walk out the door without being nailed immediately and repeatedly. Now, with Keto, I can stay outside unharassed for the most part. It’s wonderful!
Lots of people do EF without ever doing a day of Keto in their lives.
It’s totally possible - proven by tens of thousands of people that do it.
I am one. I did several EF’s per year (1 to 3 weeks) for 10 years, before I ever tried Keto.
I wonder if this is why religions encourage fasting, for deeper prayer experiences.
Fasting can be a type of severe austerity (ascetics) to enhance etheric accumulation of energy through the same mitochondrial channel that powers the body if it cannot get it through dietary nourishment? Extra sensory visual and auditory agnosia or psychic sensitivity? The midway or ability to phase in and out of the spiritual and physical dimensions?
Shamans bring that energy back into the physical realm with them to heal and precognition (e.g. fate and destiny; new borns are named according to how they will die), some people that have NDE’s acquire creativity that far exceeds their previous abilities or talents and the average person for that matter.
Very fascinating phenomenon!
The Native American vision quest is typically a 4-day dry fast and they do it in hopes of having a profound spiritual experience.
