Two NSVs this weekend

(Scott Cavendish) #1

Hi all!!

I don’t post here much, but lurk pretty much every day to stay up to date. Anyways yesterday was a great day for me. First, my wife (who decided we were going keto in the first place back in Oct) signed us up for a 5k, which we ran yesterday. I used to run and workout a bunch before breaking my knee in June '15, and was told by my doc that running would never happen again. Lack of exercise helped me go from ~240 up to 275, which is when we started low-carb, and eventually going full keto. Now I’m down to about 235, and a month or two back we started running 1/2 mile up to 2 miles this past week, but only running 1-2 times a week. Yesterday at the 5k we both ran the full distance without any walks, PLUS our pace was over a full minute under the fastest 2 miles we’ve run since resuming running. We were both so happy!

The other NSV was that my wife decided I needed new jeans since my current ones had become “homeboy pants.” Went to the store and got two pairs of 34’s, down from the 38’s that were too tight when I began keto. After shopping I pulled out my old shorts which have been in a bin waiting for me to fit in them again, and most of them fit! Some have gone out of style since 2010 when I last could wear them, but I still have some winners.

All in all it was a good day.

If I’m understanding you right, you ran a 5k under a minute faster than you ran 2 miles! That’s awesome!
I’ll bet the only thing that compares to that runners high is slipping back into your 34’s! I see a 10k in your future!
Great Job Guys!

Fitting into 34’s again was definitely the best part.

I’ve gone from tight 38s in October to loose 36s now, so hoping 34 is on the way! Good work!
