Twisted Recipes - WHY would you DO this? If they only knew

(Candy Lind) #1

So I saw this recipe posted by a friend on FB - and thought it was about as twisted as it could be! My response was "Sure you could, but WHY? I’d rather just fry the bacon, then fry the eggplant in the bacon grease. (hashtag keto)

Have you seen warped and twisted keto-wannabe carbivore recipes like this? Let’s fix them. One at a time!

It’s not keto-wannabe. It’s a vegetarian alternative to bacon. And this substitution recipe probably exists not for a nutritional purpose, but an ethical one.

Naming a vegetable something it isn’t doesn’t really seem like an ethics statement to me. It’s just never made sense that vegetarians and vegans spend money on things like vegetarian chicken and veggie bacon, or create recipes like “eggplant bacon.” Why can’t it just be “savory maple eggplant?” That sounds delicious to me. If they’re vegetarian, just eat the freaking vegetables by their real name, already. I’m certainly not going to try to come up with a recipe for “chicken collards” or “turkey squash.”

You reminded me of this:

It’s cause they really just want to eat bacon.

(You've tried everything else; why not try bacon?) #6

Makes sense to me! :bacon:

@Anderson Thanks for posting that. J.P. is so spiritual, I’m sure he’s keto just from meditating!

I love JP too…sarcastic bastard. Especially the very last shot when the puppers can’t stand it anymore and has to go for it! LOL

Me too but I am biased (Being official it has my first name on it).

I need one of those. I could really get behind a United Church of Bacon. I do believe in the Power of Bacon, and besides, I’ve always been a closet evangelist anyway and I need the tax write offs that could come from this.

:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

You can join the church. You can even become a pope like me. What you can’t do is make some tax free cash. We provide services for free and do not even accept donations. But that’s enough of that don’t want to derail the thread too much.
