Try a little mindfulness

(Renee Slaughter) #1

Started keto October 2016 lost 25 lbs. Restarted November 2017. Total loss to date 34 lbs. Was thinking about my strategy for March looking forward to continuing my progress. But something made me think am I enjoying where I am right now? Am I enjoying a slightly slimmer me? Not at my goal but just taking time to enjoy where I am. So I’m stopping, considering, and thinking about what I’ve accomplished so far. Being mindful.

Yes! I love this view. Enjoy the little successes along the journey, and appreciate every positive step. Take joy in all of the good things in life.

Great post. :+1:

Congrats on the weight loss but you haven’t really outlined any legitimate reasons to quit. You can be mindful and and appreciate what you’ve accomplished while doing keto at the same time. You said you’re not at your goal so why don’t you just keep going? Being healthier is always a positive. Eating the s.a.d. diet and (most likely) gaining back the weight you’ve lost is a negative. Just my thoughts, feel free to ignore :stuck_out_tongue:

Thx for your thoughts. I have no intention of quiting. Love keto too much. Have my plan for March. Just being grateful for the progress so far

Not that you’re stopping keto, just ‘stopping to smell the roses’ kind of thing, right? I think your last sentence may have allowed some confusion in the translation. Anwhooo… glad to hear of your progress. 17lbs and counting here, but of course for me it’s about the health benefits and improvements. For some reason though, weight seems to be our biggest (at least at first) indicator of improvement.

I think when we get into a new normal, then we’re normal and the complacency (and other ‘issues’) of normalcy can creep in. Being mindful of the journey is a good thing. Brings us back around. :blossom:

You’re right of course
I realized it sounded like I’m stopping keto. Never. My brain is happy for the first time. I’m happy. Yes just taking the time to say yes this is a good spot. Even though I’m not at my goal size yet. I’ll get there. No worries for me.

I think you’ve got this! Satisfaction in a journey is as important as the destination. In my former carb addicted state I felt like a helpless passenger on a hijacked airliner travelling fast to a bad place. Now I’m more like a lost tourist in a foreign country, unsure of exactly where I’m going or when I’ll get there but at least the trip is fun and interesting.
