True believer

(Roger Barrett) #1

Hi guys, first time poster, 6 month keto.
Amateur cyclist so I’ve been testing what I could get away with till now. Last weekend I ramped up with a 105 mile / 175km ride with 3L of water only taken for the 6 hour duration. 6 months ago I would not have considered heading for an hour with without an energy gel or cereal bar. This weekend was a charity cycle with 3 food stops but I just plugged away. People were asking was I carrying all my food with me? “Around my waist yes” but that was lost on them…pork scratchings in the evening has them up in arms! Still suffering trying to cut beer, but drinking whiskey on ice (opinions?) carb free, but does what to ketosis? 107kg down from 117kg so a true believer - easy to think of as a lifestyle for future living as well. No (sober) urges for white bread or milk chocolate - incredible for me

Welcome! We have a cycling area in the forum. Make sure you check it out.

Thanks Matt, nice to be among believers :facepunch: - I’m blue in the face trying to explain to (me 6 months ago) types. I’m finding that getting over the habit (pure & simple) of needing that energy drink, choc bar, energy bar once in ketosis goes against every commercial idea…

That’s why Keto is grassroots. There’s nothing to sell and make money from.

Not yet, but I’m still trying to think of something :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Automatically shrinking pants?

If only this were true. Tons of people selling “get into ketosis fast” (pruvit) products to people who don’t realize it takes a little time eating healthy unprocessed foods to get the desired results. We live in a “I need it all, and I need it now” society.

Straight alcohol is better than carb heavy beer. You get drunk faster on less so be aware of that. Also, alcohol will be processed first so ketosis will pause while that’s happening. Once it’s processed, should be right back to ketosis. Better than beer, where your body stops producing ketones, burns the carbs, then needs to get back to producing ketones. Matter of hours to a day vs. multiple days to get back to being a lean mean ketone burning machine.

(matt ) #9

Ill clarify. There is nothing to sell that isn’t bullshit.

(TJ Borden) #10

I’d appreciate it if you’d use the blur spoiler. I don’t want to have to report you

(Lonnie Hedley) #11

You don’t think exogenous ketones advertised as “get into Keto fast”, “drink after a cheat day to get back into ketosis”, or “rapid weight loss” are bullshit?

At least disingenuous? Maybe just a little?

You have found your church! Now pray…and donate (to me) should you wish. I take donations in slices of Edam cheese!

Congrats!!!

7 months or so here, too. Decided after Thanksgiving (late November in the US) I was done with carbs. And never looked back. Made a low-carb XMas feast and was ok with it.

Skin is healing so I can assume my insides are also. My energy level is high. I don’t cringe when I catch my reflection in the mirror. I can miss meals and not only is it no big deal, but I don’t get cranky.

I wish I had found keto when I was your age!!! Right now just trying to turn back the clock a bit because there is so much more I want to do and need to be healthy to do it!

(matt ) #14

I’m confused. Pretty sure we are saying the same thing.

Most ketone products are bullshit. Is that more clear? I know I used double negatives above but the point is the same.

Sorry, work has me mentally exhausted. Without Keto the brain fog would be even worse. Thank you for your clarification, I obviously needed it.
