Trouble with Refeeding

Ever since I broke my last (short) fast of 43 hours last Thu I can’t seem to eat much with my “satiety” signal going off after a few bites.

I haven’t logged my food in a while so I plugged in what I ate today and only came up with a little over 800 calories.

3 net carbs, 40 g protein, 70 g fat. 75% fat but that’s not enough calories and I’m worried my metabolism will slow down.

But I don’t want to force myself to eat for the sake of eating.

Advice?

Add liquid fats to your food. Sauces, butter, oils, etc.

Maybe back off to shorter fasts for a while, or do the 42h fast not more often than once a week, initially.
I must say I have a similar problem, Fung says it’s better to really feast in between fasts but I can’t switch on and off so easily, as it happens. Maybe also that is a matter of getting used to it.

Do you have a lot of bodyfat to lose? If so, I would trust your body and only eat when hungry. Maybe your body is very comfortable eating its own fat right now, and it is keen to shed weight right now. My experience is that hunger can be really high after a fast or it can be really low. I try as much as possible to listen carefully and indulge what my body is telling me.

If you don’t have much bodyfat to lose, then I would certainly be trying to eat more and do whatever you can to keep your calories up.

I am happy with my current weight and not trying to lose any more but I definitely have fat stores to draw on. Fasting for autophagy now.

I really can’t eat more as it makes me feel bad. I just don’t want my metabolism to drop. I guess I’ll listen to my body and hopefully the hunger will return.

I NEVER thought I would ever be saying that!

I was planning on eating normally this week since I have a couple of lunch dates with friends and family this week.

Next week I was going to do a strict water/black coffee fast with no HWC crutches for 72 hours. I’ll play it be ear and see what my body wants to do.

I am new to fasting. My longest was my first at 90 hours and I had NO trouble refeeding after that one! LOL

Hopefully this is just temporary and my body is getting used to it.

Today was better. I managed two decent size meals, 3 BPC’s and over twice the calories from yesterday. Under my carb limit. Over on protein but I probably need it until my appetite is back to normal.
