Trouble reading NET Carbs in Europe

#1

Ok, so i understand the basic premise; if the fibre is listed separately then the total carbohydrates are net (minus sugars listed).

But what about this:

How much NET carbs would this be? It has fibre listed separately but has sugars and polyols beneath the carbs.

Thanks in advance!

Many people count sugar alcohols as 50% of the carbs listed which would make this 7.5g per bar, but for some people it’s necessary to count the full amount which would be 14g - depends on your own sensitivity.

How come?

If carbs are 14g, sugars 1.5 and polyols are 10g, how is this 7.5g net carbs?

My counting makes it to 9 g net carbs, so I suppose a miscalculation or just focus on the ‘sugar’:
14g -10g/2 = 9 grams

But as @Shortstuff said, some doesn’t count sugar alcohols as 50% but as 100%

I kind of like that we use net carbs as default, but it makes it trickier if you want to count total carbs…

Yea 9g per bar if you go by the logic that polyols are worth half what’s stated. 14g total (10g polyols, 1.5g sugar, 2.5g naturally occurring). Half the polyols = (5g polyols, 1.5g sugar, 2.5g naturally occurring). Add that up. Hey presto. Probably not worth it.

Ok guys thanks, just wanted to know how to go on about it.

So i guess i could eat this as a treat if i was at almost 0 carbs by the end of the day huh.
