Top Psychiatrist Didn’t Report Drug Makers’ Pay

The article speaks for itself. Also, the behavior of school officials in not taking appropriate actions is unfortunately likely the norm.

Mr. Grassley has sponsored legislation called the Physician Payment Sunshine Act, which would require drug and device companies to publicly list payments to doctors that exceed $500. Several states already require such disclosures.

Great article. I don’t think the proposed legislation has a snowball chance in hell getting through congress, because it makes too much sense, but I really hope it passes. Our healthcare system is a corrupt mess, and although this wouldn’t fix it, at least it’s a step in the right direction, and at least we’ll know which doctors to thank… :yum:

The mentioned Legislation was pointed out on the televised SOTU earlier as well
Agree, a possible step in the right direction
Timely post :slightly_smiling_face:

Humm - I did not watch last night. I’ll have to ask my wife if she heard it.

He’s just stupid or greedy. There are so many ways to legally bribe researchers, why go the illegal route?

He’s definitley not stupid and he did nothing illegal. He took a few million dollars in perfectly legal bribes from drug companies over the course of a decade to influence his research. Neither he nor his university will face any consequences. None of the research will be retracted or amended. Everybody makes out fine.

He’s not greedy either. If he was greedy, he would have joined a regulatory agency like the FDA where he could have legally sold his influence for real money. When he was done, he could have become a lobbyist or pharma exec and made a few million dollars a year instead of a few million dollars a decade.

I guess I’m getting cynical in my old age… :yum:
