Too much fat or really bad insulin resistance?

Im wondering if i’m still considered a newbie after 6 months?? I need help! I’ve been doing strict keto for 6 months now with a 5 day cheat after 3 months due to no weight loss and a 1 day cheat mid- August due to an amazing NY wedding. Besides those 2 slip ups, I have lost zero weight! I do random intermittent fasting and did a 5.5 day fast then a 7 day fast. I lost 5 lbs the first time and gained it back when I started eating. During the 7 day fast I lost 10 lbs and gained 5 back. I don’t know if i’m incredibly insulin resistant or WHAT the problem is? I can’t afford lab tests right now so need to know if there’s something else I may be doing wrong. I don’t even eat low carb bread, any kind of desserts, not a grain of sugar or processed food!! Agh!!!
TIA
Debbie
By the way … I’m not giving up as i FEEL amazing!!

Did you take measurements by chance? Do you feel as though your clothes fit better? Maybe you have lost fat just not weight according to the scale?

HORMONES! Save up to do a comprehensive hormone urine test. Also when I read “strict” I wonder what that means. To me this has been a journey of learning to eat intuitively and to ask myself questions and then searching out the answers through different resources and through experimenting. If you have gotten the basics and have continued to follow that for 6 months without learning more or trying to make you diet as nutritionally dense as possible then you are not going (in most cases) get the most out of ketosis. Everyone comes to this lifestyle with very different health issues and goals and there is not a one size fits all eating plan. For example if you are getting daily intake of dairy products that might not be good for you. Or if your eating too little protein you may be experiencing negative outcomes. I started out trying to make recipes that were similar to what I ate before. I am now eating almost exclusively carnivore. I know dairy does not work well with my body so I mostly avoid it and have small amounts maybe once a week. Sometimes our lifetime of bad diet is going to take longer and more effort than 6 months. I listen to a variety of podcast and try to learn more and more. I also try different things to see how I feel. If your interested in more podcast to listen to while driving, cleaning or waiting here are a few of my favorites. Naturally Nourished, Low Carb Cardiologist, The Carnivore Cast, Human Performance Outliers, The Keto Answers, Ketogeek, Paleo Solutions and the Muscle Expert Podcast.

Might be worth looking up Dr Jason Fung and intermittent fasting, he declares fasting for insulin resistance as being akin to taking a bath and expecting to be clean forever. I don’t know what the answer is but my weight gain not my weight loss has been due to fasting much like every diet, new on this journey but hoping Keto eating will help, good luck and please let me know what works for you. Going to try daily Keto for a few months, hoping it fixes a few hormonal issues and only fast from six months when fully adjusted x

That’s a lot of good information!! And yes, you’re right, it’s a trial and error lifestyle. I have up most dairy except for the splash of heavy whipping cream in my coffee in the morning. I thought I may have been eating too much cheese so gave it up! Now I just heard Dr. Berg say that you should NOT count your broccoli or mixed greens in your carb macro count because their glycemic index is so low. So much information!! Thank you for your help!! I’ll keep you posted!
