That is the question. (Not about carbs though).
So I’ve been doing this WOE for a little over a month and was wondering what most people have success with as far as if they do lazy keto or track everything? I’ve been tracking but recently thought “maybe I should just listen to my body and eat whatever, as long as I stay under 20 carbs”…my only concern is that I may eat out of boredom/habit more. I stopped tracking a few days back and haven’t noticed any negative side affects.
What do y’all think?
To track or Not to track
It’s one of those things that just depend on the individual. I know that if I had to track, I probably wouldn’t be able to stick to it because it would drive me nuts. I keep track of carbs, but only to the extent of knowing what I can generally eat and what I pass on. I’m mostly carnivore now so when I do count carbs I’m usually between 5 and 10 for the day.
There’s so much back and fourth on protein that I don’t worry about it, and I don’t care about calories at all.
Some may call it lazy keto, but it’s been working so far, and if I plateau, the monthly Zornfast typically breaks it.
I still have a LONG way to go, so as I get closer to my target and progress slows, I might track macros, but for now, it doesn’t seem worth the effort.
Been a couple years now I think. I don’t track with any kind of app any more. I also have never had my ketones measured. I just try things and go with what works.
2 months in you might want to track even if you are following your gut. Then you can look at what you might need to change.
Change is the key.
I really want to do a Zornfast but I feel like I have to wait till I’m a little further adapted, right?
I’ve honestly been putting it in my app but not trying to stick to a certain percentage of each. I wonder if that’s ok or should I stick to my macros?
Sometimes I feel like I am but I know there’s no easy way to tell and that it typically takes more than 6 weeks…
I can skip meals easy, but I’ve never tired to fast all day.
Tracked for about three years (started before keto) but stopped tracking & counting in July last year, all good for me.
Eat whatever, whenever that’s keto as long as you stay under 20g of net carbs. My keto friendly boredom snacks are chicken broth with butter or cream, low carb veggies, fat bombs. It’s very hard to boredom eat/snack on high fat foods.
I have been tracking for 7 years because that’s what made me successful in weight loss and maintenance. I track what I eat with a moderate deficit kcal-budget in mind. I don’t religiously try to always get under that number, but I do track everything that passes my mouth. I have had times and experiments where I have deliberately not tracked but despite eating keto, I gained some weight during those periods. My main problems are stress/ boredom related snacking and a disrespect of my satiety signals, which I’m currently trying to address. Tracking has helped me detect patterns in my stress snacking. For example with work-related stress, I’ll crave peanuts (in shell) and milky tea. Now, I use such cravings as a warning sign.
So, I feel there is a lot to be gained from tracking and if it’s working for you and not causing mental stress and punishment when you go over your carb or kcal budget, I’d say stick with it. You can always do some time restricted not-tracking tests and see how you feel in that mode. I think it just comes down to personality.
I’m only three months in…I tracked all my stuff for about three weeks then I stopped. I felt like I had a good grasp of what I needed to do. I will track for a couple of days each month so I can readjust macros for weight loss but all in all…as long as it fits, I’m good with it.
I track. I eat what I would like and track what it is, and tweak if I’m missing my target.
For me, lazy keto is for maintenance. Only after my “eat from boredom” habit is cured and my satiation is properly tuned. Tracking is a way to limit bored eating (if I have to log it, I’m more conscientious about eating it) and to help learn my appetite.
I actually am just over 2 months in. Wasn’t tracking but am going to start because the scale isn’t moving. Will be evaluating things and changing what im doing as needed. Tracking will help me to look back and see what works and doesn’t for me personally. Weight loss isn’t my only goal but is a big one and contributes to some of the other issues im dealing with. I think if you can loose and not track that is awesome! I may get to that point once im closer to my goal. But for now tracking will help me fine tune the process.
Tracking…
just to keep my MFP consecutive days logging streak going
Badge notification system tell me this. Haha
If that streak gets broken😓
Or Miss a day
I quit KETO then😡…jk
87 days in a row. Have a friend who is over 500
@Tmdlkwd that’s how they kept me tracking for so long… couldn’t break the streak! I rebelled in the end, after 700+ days
This streak is much more important to me now…
@Shortstuff nice!!
So awesome
MFP, more for the novelty now for me as well
Nothing serious. Accuracy not going for , I confess lol
Although , it was crazy. I looked way back, when I was more serious logging …had many days of 275 net carbs and 67 grams of sugar or so. Yikes!!
Great job! Ur screenshot resembles my activity ring as well , on my Apple Watch😃 I agree. Much more important
MFP just had a security breach, you should be getting an email about it. Time to change your password
