Three days in

(Marianne) #1

I started keto three days ago after lurking, reading, researching and stalling for weeks. I am so afraid it will change or that I sound too cavalier , but as of right now, I feel like I’ve been delivered from a life long food addiction. Something is different this time. I am not craving or obsessing about food, carbs, sweets or bingeing. I am not mourning my trigger foods. I enjoy planning and preparing meals, and although they are nothing elaborate, they are extremely delicious and totally satisfying. The carbs I do eat are clean and with dressing and different sauces, I am enjoying eating vegetables - something that I never did. Already I can tell I have lost weight in my face and stomach, but I have no interest in what the scale says right now. My goal is yes, to lose weight, but more importantly to get off my numerous medications, fix my pre-diabetes and get healthy. I feel so grateful to have found this new way and also this forum of great people who freely share their stories and information. I hope by living one day at a time, I will be able to say at some point that I’ve been here three months, three years, etc.

Good job, Marianne.
Savour the journey…watch for those sauces and dressings though for hidden sugars. Once in awhile is fine but I opted to wean myself off the taste of them (if it isn’t useful to my body, I don’t need it way of thinking). Wishing you lots of success!

Except that you can make your own and have complete control over what goes into them. Avocado mayo is my current dressing and sauce-- in different flavors.

It sounds like it "clicked’ in. Good for you! It’s so much easier to do something when your entire brain is on board. Let us know if you have any questions and as always, be patient and stick with it!

Congrats Marianne. I’m pleased that you gave yourself this gift and are already starting to see its value. Eating healthy is such a game changer.

I’ve been watching Dr. Fung videos and am fascinated learning about HFLC, insulin and IF. Makes so much sense and is very empowering.

Congratulations!!! I also am staying off the scale, it messes with my mind way too much.

Thank you - I agree. I detest the scale. Although I weighed myself on Tuesday to get a starting point, before that I think it’s been around 6 months since I weighed myself. When I go to the doctor’s, I tell the tech that I don’t want to be weighed (patient’s right). I think they get pissed. I feel so bad for the people who weight themselves 2-3 times a day. It’s really so sad.

I get on the scale backwards. :joy: I’ve been told I HAVE to be weighed, insurance requirement. I feel bad for the nurse who is just doing their job, so I comply.

I have a pair of jeans that I use as my scale. Once they are loose again, I am at a place where I feel extremely comfortable in my own skin.

Me, too!!! I only have one pair of jeans and they are tight in the waist. Last time I had them on was before I started keto, and I can tell I have lost weight in my stomach. I am thinking they are going to be more comfortable - thank God.
