Thoughts on eating egg everyday?

(bjørn arne) #1

I eat on avarege six-eight eggs per day, i fry eggs, salmon and vegetables in a pan with sunflower oil and have some sour cream and cheese with some green leafs. Thats basically what i eat for every meal and i love it. i change up sometimes with minced meat insted of salmon, or steak or whatever meat i feel like having that day. But sour cream and sun flower oil is what i add to my eggs, meat or salat to get the fat % high. Whats you`re toughts on eating alot of the same food in general.

If it works for you, go for it. Nutritionally it seems great so as long as you don’t get bored, good luck to you. I go through periods of eating the same foods for a while.

I was successful at CICO (until I wasn’t) with the same salad every day for 6 months. I would eat it still if I could make it keto macro compliant. I have had the same lunch for a couple of months now and like it just as much now as when I started (egg/bacon/cheese/pickles/hot sauce). Some people need diversity in their menu, some thrive on repeating what they like. It’s much easier to be in the latter group. :grinning:

I don’t see a problem with it.

… no problem, but sunflower oil… If you are eating outside and it is how they do, it cannot be helped: better than no-fat.

But at home… Olive oil is better.

i tought sunflower oil was healty, why is that better?

(bjørn arne) #6

i am slowly becoming a “spesialist” at making good salats now, my whole family and friends wants me to teach them how to make it :stuck_out_tongue: hehe, evrybody around me are eating alot more healty, and i constanly get asked for advice  thats one benefit with cooking the same food is that you becoume damn good at making it  when i started keto i ate green kale and steaks with alot of cocunut oil, now a couple of months later it looks like something you would get at a 5 star resturante :stuck_out_tongue:

I agree with the others about the sunflower oil.

With the meal you describe, I would be using half grassfed butter (for the flavour) and half olive oil, to reduce the chance that the butter will burn.

Regarding eggs - if you can tolerate them, then I can’t see a problem. Unfortunately, I find that too many eggs clog up my digestion in an unpleasant way, so I don’t eat many of them.

I have on average 25-30 eggs a week not done me any harm !!!

(bulkbiker) #10

I eat eggs fairly regularly I guess about a dozen a week but cook in butter or animal fat only… usually butter unless poached.

(Ben) #11

Here’s a Gary Fettke video which he starts by saying sugar makes you hungry, carbs make you fat and processed oils make you sick and inflamed.
In other words keep clear of sunflower oil.

(Pete A) #12

14 eggs a week here and going strong!

Any oil is better than sunflower oil. The high Omega 6 causes inflammation. It’s used extensively in packaged foods which oughta give a clue

Why not another oil and keep the eggs!

I wasn’t so sure about it when I first tried it, but I’ve become quite a fan of avocado oil. Quite versatile. Good for making mayo, also good for frying with a fairly high flash point.

(Sophie) #14

Also virtually tasteless. :+1:

(Allie) #15

Not in coffee though… tried it once just to see. Coffee went down the sink.

(Ethan) #16

I can definitely see it gunning the coffee…but most oils don’t work in coffee anyway

(Karen) #17

I understand your body adapts to regular food choices. I have been told it’s not the best by nutritionists. Guess I can see a variety giving you better nutrient variety. But there’s also the old CICO you eat less of boring same food choices. Who knows?

10 eggs here now.

Lard looks like the best balance.

I’ve never done oil in coffee. Even butter isn’t something I normally do. Cream, yes.

I guess it’s all in what a person gets used to…

I like coffee. I like oil. Together, not so much.

(Brian) #19

FWIW, Dr Berg claims to eat 4 eggs for breakfast every morning.

I probably eat that many or more a day but not always for breakfast. Often some of my egg consumption is in other things… keto muffins, quiche, and sometimes deviled eggs, which are usually for supper here.

I will say this, I try to be fussy about where I get my eggs. I get them from a friend who feeds them an organic mash and has them out on pasture.

(Allie) #20

Normally I do butter, coconut oil, and cream - occasionally MCT oil on the odd occasion I bother with it.
The avocado oil lives next to where I make my coffee so it was a spur of the moment experiment that is not to be repeated
