I was actually looking for my Herring fillets in olive oil, and Safeway didn’t have have it. ! WTH? So Walmart had it, and Safeway didn’t ?
Well that was okay, because after looking through the 90 different brands and styles if canned fish, I found this stuff… And OMG ! I’ll never be stuck somewhere without a healthy keto snack… Or heck, a couple cans is darn near a whole dinner (just need a couple sides… Mozzarella sticks, avacado, or whatever)

Also, it wasn’t crazy expensive. Only $2.59 even at Safeway. Bet I can find it for under $2 somewhere. Anyway I plan to get a bunch if this stuff for the duffel bag in my car… My back pack… My house… My GF’s house :slightly_smiling_face:

Oh, and it’s even the convenient pull top cana :slightly_smiling_face:

This stuff is Gold ! Oh I think they have Solid Albacore in Olive Oil too… But they were out. Will have to try that too.

Tuna is good but not nearly as good for you as the smaller oilier fish like sardines, herring, mackerel and anchovies. They are rich in omega 3 fatty acids and their low position in the food chain means they haven’t got concentrated levels of methyl mercury in them.

I do eat salmon and yellowfin (ahi) though along with their mercury :confused:. I love seared ahi steaks. And I eat canned tuna occasionally. I wouldn’t abandon your beloved herring though! I only recommend wild caught fish and I personally don’t eat a lot of it, a 2-3 times a month usually :cowboy_hat_face:

Yea, I hear you. Now please don’t take this as a bash or anything, but I just really don’t spend much time worrying about things that “might” cause cancer, or altheimers, etc, down the road. I feel like most of the time, those things are just so vague and unpredictable anyway. I pretty much put zero weight in terms like, organic, grass fed, wild caught, etc.
I’m really only interested in the short term stuff. Like my keto balance for the day… Maybe the week.
In my 54 years, I’ve just seen time after time, the people who took great care of themselves, and followed all the rules such as organic, grass fed, no high fructose corn syrup, etc, and still die from cancer and other horrible diseases, while people who are a total trainwreck of health, seem to go on and on… It just makes no rime or reason.

Oh, so about 30 years ago, I worked in some really hideous stuff called difolitan… Very closely related to agent orange (which killed my father btw) To be honest, I’m really surprised I haven’t already gotten / died from cancer. So if I ever do, the last thing I’m going to be thinking is, “I guess I ate too much farmed fish, or non-organic produce” but rather, I sure wish I’d have stayed away from difolitan…
