I have been strict keto since April 2017 and prior to that low carb. I was super shocked that my Alc went to 7.1 in April. That being said I looked back 2 yrs and noticed that my doctor put me on metformin when my alc was 5.8! How stupid was I!!!
Also kept me in statin when my total cholesterol was 166. Took myself off that.
I am on three blood pressure medicines and top number vary 120s-140s and lower number 70s-90s. I would love to get off these meds.
My morning fasting is in the 100s and sometimes in the 80-90s but would love to go back to doctor and have lower fasting number. And yes i quit metformin in May.
All that being said i was not obese and have lost about 25 lbs and feel great with Keto and do IF. Tried a EF but when i got to 60hrs i had a weird feeling like a knot in my stomach and my blood pressure was 190/100. Needless to say that freaked me out and broke the fast with macadamia nuts.
I see all these wonderful result on this forum but i have a few tweaks that i need help and advice.
Thanks for any help. I love this forum!

Are you getting enough electrolytes? Sodium potassium and magnesium? 5g of sodium?

#3

Well you make me question myself but i take a magnesium supplement (manesuin stearate) , get my potassium from leafy greens and take Himalayan sea salt either from just putting on my tongue several times a day or drinking sole water. Am i doing something wrong or is magnesium supplement the wrong one?
Thanks for responding

Hrm…That seems like a good balance. If you don’t mind me asking, which three BP medications are you taking?

#5

Atenolol 100 Mg
Hydrochloride 25 mg
Doxazosin 2 mg

Your glucose is running higher than ideal. Keto isn’t a macro. Are you sure that your body is in a state of ketosis? If you’re not measuring, you don’t know.

If you don’t like extended fasting, try intermittent fasting. Fixing metabolic derangement often requires giving the body long periods of time at low insulin levels that can only be achieved in the absence of stimulus (ie. food, stress, sleep deprivation).

I do check my ketones with a keto mojo and it runs 1.3-3 or above. I check everyday.
I do IF everyday and tried EF only that one time. Will like to do the zorn fast this coming Wednesday. Maybe that will help…
I try and switch it up but mostly do OMAD.
I do realize something is off somewhere that’s why I think this forum is so great.

What are you drinking ? And how is your sleep. Poor sleep makes my BP go up and my dawn phenomenon worse.

Drink a lot of water - well 4-6 bottles of 16.9oz. Well a lot of time 4.
BPC most mornings and coffee with HWC (liquid stevia). Maybe once a month I have a diet Dr Pepper.

Sleep well let’s see - fall asleep on the couch around 8:30-9 and then I’m awake by 3 or 4am ugh!!!

The falling asleep in a chair in the evening and waking up before the chickens sounds really familiar to me. I can tell you from my experience this had a bad effect on my blood pressure. When I started making myself stay awake and going to actual bed at 11:30 it helped bring it right down.

Thanks. I’ll give that a try. Lol not that they are boring by no means but i put my ear buds in and start listening to keto dudes while my husband watching car shows. Next thing I know I’m asleep and have to start pod cast all over again. Lol.
You give me a few things to reevaluate and see if I can get this crap straightened out!!
Thanks
