Thirst and new to keto

Hi, I’ve been learning about keto from DietDoctor.com and been eating this way for about 12 days. I estimate that I’ve definitely kept carbs under 40 g., and usually closer to 25 g. each day. This change from a raving sugar addict! I’m so proud of my progress!

Question: I’m often very thirsty throughout the day, despite drinking 64-80 oz. water. And I slow down water intake in the evenings, but still wake up at least 1 time per night to pee. (Did not wake prior to carb reduction).

Is this normal? I assume that my body is getting rid of lots of water, so that might explain the thirst and night waking. I’m supplementing with magnesium. And drinking buillion more regularly, along with liberally salting food with sea salt. Pee stick indicates that I’m in moderate (4.0) ketosis when waking in morning.

Thanks for any shared wisdom!

Your body is not storing all the water in your muscle glycogen reserves. You likely need more salt. I like pink Himalayan. I put a tsp in my water 1-4 times a day depending on fasting or exercise. Just put a 1/4 tsp salt under your tongue and see how it makes you feel. Just don’t use that generic table salt
