Lots of great responses… and Two Keto Dudes also have a podcast on alcohol that you might want to listen to. I am binge-listening to the podcasts starting with episode 1. All good. Highly recommended of course!

That’s interesting - I wonder if it’s true with the occasional drink or moreso if drinking every day. I’ve switched from IPAs to gray goose with a squeezed lime and that feels real good. Getting a blood ketone meter in a couple days - it’s also a glucose meter. Check glucose (maybe also ketones) before imbibing, then maybe 15 minutes and then 30 minutes after. That might tell me if the vodka takes me out of keto so quickly. An insulin spike ought to rapidly drop the glucose so maybe would see it there.

Hi! I am with you. I don’t have a specific health condition. I am trying to lose weight, and hopefully quickly. I am not certain this will be a lifestyle change or not. My husband and I are both trying it. I am on day 5 (probably TMI, but of course this is also the week of my period) I do not think I have hit Ketosis yet. I am still headachy and exhausted. I am getting in my fat, carbs are below 20, and maintaining moderate protein (all tracked on sparkpeople).

I would love some chocolate right now. I am not typically a “sweets” person, but man, I have come up with every sweet I can’t have and want so bad right now…Halloween candy on the table is NOT helping.

Hey, @Rose829, it might help you feel better if you make some broth and drink a couple of cups of it a day. A large part of the “keto flu” is dehydration and low sodium. A stock cube in a cup of boiling water is all it takes, though a lot of people enjoy making their own bone broth from scratch.

I started Keto just for weight loss and the improvements in my health were a pleasant surprise and now the main reason I stick to this way of life probably for the rest of my life.

Just a note, often a random chocolate craving is really a need for magnesium which I often need more of during my period. .

So, I am on day 14. My energy level is way better and the headaches are gone. I am not seeing feeling any weight changes, however. I do track all of my macros on sparkpeople. I suppose my next step is figuring out if I am in Ketosis. I am hoping for some results.

What a nice run this was/is ! I so agree that any (reasonable) reason for getting on to this is grand !

I have a normal BMI and although can remember carb cravings/??addictions from the past ( ice cream :ice_cream:, Oreos etc !) I haven’t seen them in a good long while for some reason I can’t brag about. I got onto this because at a steadfast 137-140#, I could not drop to my desired 120 by calorie restricted cation and exercise alone. Found this and :boom: bam - the first 7# dropped off. Couldn’t drop 1-2 before no matter what I did.

Now I’m dealing with slides ( mostly intentional w confidence !) fm this due to travel, holidays and family fun etc BUT my gains have stuck ! Ha ha meaning losses :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:. I leveled down to 132 not higher after quite a spell. And now just abt 130. That feels real good.

Big change for me is how good I feel on this. Lean in the belly mainly. Plus the energy and focus. Yes, it’s lifestyle !

After much family travel over Tday plus recent further of the same - with plenty eating out, other people’s kitchens and added frivolity, I’m back home and pretty much into “egg fast plus” as above for now - to start scale drop and blood Ketosis up again. Keto’s gone fm 0.1 to 0.4 in about 3 days and scale’s dropped fm 132+ to 130+. Guess I’m doing something right.

Will do this til Christmas week - a whole week fy travel - oh what fun but also slogs this effort just a bit. Will do the best I can to sneak thru keeping keto somewhat strong. But then I’ll be back home again and can egg fast or similar til I’m back to strongly keto again.

I’m hoping I’ll be able to “get to goal “ here (120) a few weeks after holidays and then really experiment in a rational and heartfelt manner, so that I can see how much I can expand my daily intake while keeping the feel and other realities of keto daily strong. Meaning - goal weight stability, continued feeling this good and maybe still seeing over 0.3 at least on blood keto. The last naturally won’t be important if the first two remain

We eat organic vegies, fish/seafood, very occasional whole grains ( brn rice, oats maybe some real great bread - but rarely -really !! ). Also like our IPA gotta be real careful w that since 6-8 oz will throw me off. And rarely some outrageously good dessert somewhere. Also like some dried fruit fm time to time.
