Third day on Keto; don’t judge me

I honestly feel like the youngest person in this forum lol I’m 24 years old with a one year old and I’ve been wanting to get rid of my last 10lbs post pregnancy once and for all! So THATS why I decided to try the Keto diet, i know it’s only my third day but I’ve fought temptation like no other and tbh it doesn’t seem so hard when I really think about it. My point is, I see so many people on here doing it for health reasons and I feel like my reason for this is pretty vain. I’m going to Vegas at the end of November and that’s when I was gona stop this diet (at least for the two days there) which I know will set me back. Is there anyone out there doing it to feel good physically or is it just me
Has anyone else done this for the sole purpose of fitting into a piece of clothing ? Haas anyone else put a deadline on the diet ? Will my reasons behind this interfere with my motivation.

I love being full and not being bloated after my meals. That’s been my favorite part about these three days. It’s just been so hard to consume so much fat! It makes me feel a little gross. And I’ve been religiously intaking 20g net carbs it’s been so hard , I love me some veggies :weary:

(You've tried everything else; why not try bacon?) #2

The 20g of carbs recommendation is for people who are highly insulin-resistant. It’s entirely possible that you can stay in ketosis while eating more than that. Dr. Phinney feels that people can get into ketosis while eating as much as 100 or even 125 grams of carbohydrate a day. So do what works for you; we won’t judge—promise!

As for the other stuff, whatever your reasons for going keto, we don’t care. Granted, the fear of a heart attack or of going into a diabetic coma can be a powerful motivator, but so can the desire to be thinner. I started eating keto because I’m really afraid of metabolic disease, but I am also really enjoying the sensation of pants loose enough to fall off! I really want to get back to the weight I enjoyed in college, (cough) years ago.

Here’s some virtual bacon to encourage you in your keto journey: :bacon::bacon:

For many of us keto is a way of life, not a short term solution. We don’t judge, however, if you’re going off for a trip, I suggest you go off a few days before. You’re likely to feel sick when you resume eating carbs, do it at home so you don’t ruin vacation.

Or…

Try to stay with it? Why break it? If you dont REALLY need to, then don’t. Yes its hard, but in the end you will have accomplished something big. It can be a mile stone in your life.

On the other hand, don’t worry. Do what you need to do. You can get your body back into ketosis again. Do this for your health. Do this for your vanity. Don’t do it at all. Doesn’t matter. Keep your sanity. You have a little one that needs you. THAT’S what you need to focus on. Do what you need to for her. That includes you getting a break from stress and taking some personal time. EVERYTHING else is vanity.

Judging? No. Envious? Yes. !7;^)

No judgement here! Still cheering you on. You might like this way of eating though.

Enjoy LV!

The initial water weight loss certainly is a quick solution to drop some pounds. But that will come back if you eat carbs. Other then that there is definitely value in training yourself to be a better fat burner. I do low carb to get leaner, not reverse chronic disease.

I’m not judging you, promise

I’ve been flirting with keto for quite some time- little stretches here and there. Apparently, I really needed to feel like crap after going off of it a few times to convince myself that it’s best for my body.

I’m 5 years older than you are and I do have some pretty serious health issues… but I think it’s quite normal for people of ANY age to want to feel better about the way we look  That’s certainly a bigger motivator for me right now than the health issues I have, to be honest.

You might find that you don’t want to stop the diet, or you want to modify it a little bit to better fit your situation. Don’t worry too much about why you are doing it- you’re making a healthy choice for yourself, and those aren’t easy and take some time!

I love the fact that I’m less hungry. And I’ve found the will power to say no to snacks.

Thank you so much for this! I was afraid of the Keto flu but the amount of energy I have in the morning on an empty stomach is ridiculous. Something i KNOW I wouldn’t have if I had chips and chocolate for breakfast. So, it’s definitely a healthier choice and wiser. I’m hoping to become more comfortable and smarter about adding more healthy carbs, cause as of now I’m always paranoid to go over 20g.

Since I could be your mama, age-wise , young lady please let me know how you feel a week from now, LOL.

I’m betting, you’ll feel wonderful, more so than today.

Awh  I will!

We don’t judge. We don’t shoot our wounded either. member there are no rules to KETO. You’ll be even more amazed how easy it is to stay on Keto…even in Vegas!

@Darlene_Horsley Sounds like a good episode: “Keto in Vegas!”

(Darlene Horsley) #14

What Keto’s in Vegas…stays in Vegas!

I hear that! I think a lot of this is playing around with what works for your body. Trust your feelings. I think so often- as people- but especially as women- we don’t trust the way we feel. Really, we’re told not to by everyone. REALLY listening to- and trusting- what my body was telling me has probably been the biggest shift for me. It’s such an empowering feeling!

#16

Ohhh that’ll make things interesting! Lol

I hope that by week four I’m more comfortable with it. So far so good tho ! I’m on my lunch break eating steak and avocado. Loving life.

One of the biggest things to consider is that Carbohydrates are your body’s natural enemy, we as humans are not built to run on Carbs, the nutrition industry and food corp. have lied to the public to make themselves rich and keep us sick so big pharma can keep us sick and make money… it’s a vicious cycle for profit and that’s all it is… the TRUTH about carbohydrates from grains is that it’s documented and scientifically proven to be the link to brain disease, cancer, Alzheimer’s, Diabetes, immune deficiency disorders, inflammation… and the list goes on… Living a correct Keto lifestyle virtually frees you from almost 100% of those risks, but only if you start young. Once the damage is done, Like Alzheimer’s, it’s done, but other things like getting Diabetes (like me with an HA1C of 8 ) you can reverse this… I will be Diabetes free in about 3 months maybe sooner. Your body’s natural state is that of using Fat for fuel… IF you stay on course and follow the Keto Lifestyle to the way it’s actually supposed to be lived… all those “I love me some of -insert favorite craving- Will go away, cravings are a side effect of what carbs do to your brain. Once you get Fat Adapted… those go away, in fact your appetite possibly will subside almost completely and you will only be hungry when your body actually requires food. The first week is the WORST, you get mixed emotions and cravings and then you aren’t hungry, then you are… then you are moody… then you are happy… It’s like living through a Jerry Springer show in your head… BUT if you stick with it and don’t cheat…3-5 days you start to even out… it gets easier and much more enjoyable… the not being bloated and all of those things is because you are cleaning your body out… you are healing the damage that has been done. Here is the catch… where people use it as a “Diet” you clean out your body and as you do so… your body becomes less resistant to the poisons because the cells have realized they don’t have to fight so hard… so you feel better and you think 'wow i got that 10 pounds off, im gonna have me a cheeseburger and a coke to celebrate… just one cant hurt…” very wrong, your body now isn’t prepared to even try and fight off the poison and chemicals in all those toxins and now you are at double risk for sickness and bloating and inflammation… it would take the body another week to either build up immunity to you changing back to carbs… or if that truly was just your one cheat meal, and you decided you are going straight back into keto… think again… get ready for another week of cravings and bloating, and mood swings, so it would seem to me if one wanted to truly be healthy… one would adopt the possibility that this lifestyle isn’t so bad… You get to eat, bacon and steak… I can live without the bread… Thanks for reading my humble rambling, I hope you find a nugget of wisdom somewhere in there. What I just wrote is literally what happened to me the very first time I got into Ketogenics. Take care

I’m twice your age plus a few years but I am not ashamed to admit that I want to look good for my husband. I have about 15 pounds to lose. I also want to age well and be healthy. Nourishing our bodies is sexy!

(Kellyn ) #20

I’m with you on this reasoning. My husband is away for a month long Army training. Since he left I got back on my ketogenic lifestyle which I had fallen off of after beach vacation in August. I hope to stay with it for life this time for the health benefits but also to look good for my husband.
