…it’s what you did (or didn’t do/ate or didn’t eat) in the previous SEVERAL days or week or so.
For myself, I noticed an uptick in my recent fat loss, which naturally got me all kinds of confident and chilled out out, but since I was working out more AND am a chronic pain sufferer, I overdid it and so THIS week, I crashed and burned, did NO workouts, had to hit the stronger meds a bit, which also weakens my hand with the cheese and the comfort food (see how that cascades so easily and the excuses follow?!).
So up a couple. I own it. No prob. Time to heal and regroup. Working 6 days a week and killing it at work and still off the really bad narcotics…not easy and sometimes it’s tempting to want to jump off one of these many Pittsburgh bridges, but I’m still and always will be all in!
Theory: If you've gained (or lost) today, it isnt what did (or didn't do) yesterday
I’ve come to believe that what I do this week won’t be reflected on the scale until next week.
Not sure it’s true, but it does help me stay on track better.
ie, if I want a downward trend next week, I need to be careful this week.
It seems to work better for me to think that way as opposed to “if I eat this cake today, the scale will go up tomorrow … but I’ll be back to normal the day after that.”
Nope … what I eat today affects me over a week long period, not just overnight.
Can. But that’s a little on the long side for most.
Average for men is 33 hours. Average for women is 47 hours. (I don’t really understand why that much difference between men and women. Maybe that plays a role in why it seems to be harder for most women to lose weight. ??)
I always was suspicious of the over 70 hours transit.
The 33 makes much more sense.
do you have a reference for the 33 so I will not use the 70 hrs in the future.
thanks Brian

I also notice stuff… like when I have some red beets or corn or something else that would show “evidence”. And for me, that’s usually within like 24 hours. I don’t have corn often anymore. But I still do occasionally have some red beets when I eat my red beet eggs (pickled). The color goes all the way through… (bordering on TMI… LOL!)

I agree - 70 hours is almost 3 days. That seems very unusual to me. In one day, out the next - that’s a general rule for me (I may be less than normal, there). If it’s 36 hours or more, then that’s often going to be constipation.
Brian’s examples of corn or beets are good ones. The fastest for me is hot peppers - eat them in the evening and usually showing up after 14 or 15 hours - the next morning. The capsaicin in them is known to speed things up, though.
