My wife and I are slowly turning the tide with her family. Both of her parents are T2D and I have been trying to explain for the more than 10 years that we’ve been married that it is caused by the sugar they eat. They say they get it, but they are completely unwilling to stop consuming it. However, my wife’s sister has gone keto with us. This puts the balance more in the low-carb camp, and it was evident at the father-in-law’s birthday party on Sunday.
They made traditional chili with beans.
I made Butter Bob’s famous chili - no beans
They made a german chocolate cake.
I made fathead cinnamon rolls with cream-cheese icing.
The results…
Nearly all my chili was gone, less than 1/3 of the traditional was gone.
The cinnamon rolls were a huge hit, those shown in the picture didn’t make it home. My mother-in-law wants them for her birthday instead of a traditional cake. The cake that was consumed was by the birthday boy, and the children. No other adults had any!
Maybe there is hope after all!
