The Swingin' Life

I’m at my mom’s retirement community, which is made up of little clusters of cottages in “the woods” - it’s pretty well groomed but there’s lots of wildlife and green, heavenly park-like setting on 300 acres of woods and fields.

Yesterday I was out walking and I came across an area someone had groomed in the woods, with a horseshoe pit and two very tall swings, probably 12’. I sat down and swung to my heart’s content for nearly an hour and watched the birds and deer, who didn’t seem the slightest bit fazed by me.

I … it was the loveliest surprise. Not only did I find it incredibly relaxing out there in the woods whooshing through the trees, but when i was done I realized what a great workout this was - shoulders, arms, back, abs, thighs, even a little aerobic benefit.

I’m utterly charmed and can’t wait to go back and see if i can find it again … and I SO want this at home!!! Like, So Much, I’d plant woods in my back yard just to have a tall swing like this.

I love trail runs when you get deep into really tall pines and the sun pokes through at the top and spotlights small areas of the ground it can get through. It seems like the volume of the world gets turned down and everything is calm and right in the world. :evergreen_tree::evergreen_tree::evergreen_tree::evergreen_tree:

The post title. Kinda sent me the other way, yikes…” the swingin life “:flushed:
I’m better now. Oh boy🤣

Any who, nice encounter and story w your experience
Thank you for sharing
Reminds me of a possible childhood memory, maybe a setting for a lovely screenplay, a daily journal entry of some sort or a dream that later becomes reality😄

Just the simple things in life…
Peaceful and Enjoyable

That’s all a good thing!

Thanks for helping me to remember that magical feeling! :relaxed:

I was amazed to discover “that magical feeling” is actually also quite a lot of work! Personally it would be a perfect daily ‘workout’ … the meditative-motion quality of running, only not as physically challenging.

I can totally see how that’s a good core workout…

So if I open my own swinging meditation center, maybe not “Swingin’ Seniors”? :smirk:
