The new diet. The new life, the new goal. Carbs have you met them?

I have a question about carbs if you don’t mind this will only take a min. Do you count the carbs from green leafy things like spinnach or cabbage? Day 8 of limiting carbs to under 20 grams a day. I’ve also started intermition fasting going 8 or 9 hours from noon until 8 or 9. At nite I go 8 or 9pm until 12 pm the next day.
I still feel awesome one day I was ready to slap someone for some carbs lmao. I was feelin pretty lathargic in the morning but Ive been takking vitamin B complex helps out a ton.
I’ve just been avoiding carbs like the plague and I have stopped eating so much meat that was tough. I limit a serving to the size of the palm of my hand. But my body is craving green leafy things hard.Water has been keeping me from cheating on the diet its like die but with a T. I just want to say these forums are great. I think I’ve lost weight but my scale only goes up to 340 lbs and Im prolly around 400 lbs however i have had to tighten my belt two holes over these 8 days otherwise I look like I’m in a bad rap music video.

Pce out thanks for reading my thoughts and questions.

As a fellow 400 pounder club member, WELCOME.

In general, you want to count ALL carbs, regardless of where they’re from, then deduct fiber for your NET number, and that’s what you want to keep to 20 or under.

Don’t force fasting, but feel free if you’re not hungry. Fasting often comes naturally once you’re fat adapted which usually happens after a couple months.

I count actual carbs on everything ELSE, green veggies I count net carbs so the limits are higher for me. But I also have myself set at 30 not 20. Wouldn’t worry about green veggies unless your eating scary amounts of them.

Any good apps for keto diet you two could recomend?

Cronometer, free version has more options than the paid version of my fitness pal, and the paid version is even better. I’ve also got some friends that use carb manager which isn’t bad but I feel cronometer has much better tracking especially when it comes to micro nutrients.

How?

(TJ Borden) #9

How long have you been at it? It’s not uncommon to gain weight in the beginning, especially for those that have tried other yo-yo diets and/or calorie restriction in the past. Once on keto, the body starts getting all the macro nutrients it’s been lacking and holds on to them.

Keto is a lifestyle, not a quick fix.

I’m not sure if I have lost anything I think I will know in a month. You sure your scale is accurate? maybe try a friends.

There’s a lot more to it than what the scale tells you. How do you feel? How do your cloths fit?

this is true lol

You were either dehydrated and picking it up that way, simply eating more, or doing something wrong. Rather than giving up for no reason start a new thread with what happened specifically and a sample diet.

That’s water weight. Nothing to get upset about.
