The In-Laws

My family and I went to visit the in-laws this weekend for the first time since starting Keto. Hubby gave his mom a heads-up on my new eating style before we came, and we didn’t think it’d be a big deal because FIL is loosely low-carbing. Friday night dinner had potential, except the main dishes were all beef (which I’m very allergic to- how sad is that?) except for 2 pork and chicken hot dogs, with fries as a side. She did also have some cheddar cheese. Also,MIL obviously doesn’t really understand what a carb is, though she tried!

The victory? I figured it out and didn’t cheat, and didn’t make anybody mad. Bonus points because it was also the celebration of my 11 year old’s Bday and I didn’t even cheat for chocolate cake!!

Sounds like a successful day!

And even if MIL didn’t understand what carbs are, at least she tried and didn’t criticize you.

Congrats on passing up the cake!

I really can’t imagine my MIL criticizing me for anything, honestly. I’d have to get creative and pretty petty to come up with things I don’t like about my in-laws. They’re pretty great. I felt really bad when she asked me if I liked squash (emphatic yes!) then had to break it that battered and fried wasn’t what I meant. She let me cook some in the oven with olive oil, so all was good.

You are very blessed!

I didn’t have any sisters or daughters (or grandaughters) so my one DIL I have I try to spoil her as much as she will let me! I would never say anything unkind to her or criticize anything she did.

I hope she feels the same way about me as you do your sweet MIL!
