The idea of glucose

I have been doing keto for about 7 weeks now and I want to purchase a glucose meter shortly, but don’t have any idea what number I need to look for, so I have a couple questions below. I have searched through the other topics and haven’t really found a clear answer.

What is the ideal blood glucose level while in ketosis?
Is it best to test first thing in the morning?
What are the best ways to test for spikes?
Are there any other numbers or anything else that I should look out for or be aware of while testing?

IMO unless you’re diabetic - you don’t need to monitor your glucose.
If you really feel the need to monitor something - a blood ketone meter is something you might look into (urine sticks are unreliable)
The keto mojo seems to be popular and relativley inexpensive

I’ve never monitored glucose or ketones in spite of a high index of suspicion I was likely pre-diabetic at a minimum - and have been losing weight, reversing hypertension etc on keto without being the wiser.

monitoring your blood glucose is a great way to get an idea of how you react to different foods and eating patterns

the finger prick method is antiquated and cumbersome. this works much better

in order to get an idea of what is going on you have to see what your blood sugar is doing frequently and look at patterns

just testing once or twice a day is not going to give you any useful info and may just lead to confusion and frustration
