The Eskimo Myth?

This is the winner…
Bad study comes to conclusion that fat is the problem when there is smoking, sugar and packaged goods.

Try harder, vegans.

#42

So why are you ignoring my post?

(Adam Kirby) #43

Yeah unless the OP can provide us a link to the full study text, all we have is the word of Neal Barnard which is worthless to me.

#44

Um, did you read LindsaySue’s post? The author of the article drew an absolutely unsupported conclusion, which appears highly biased based on his background…

#45

Man, is it me or are the vegan special-ops coming out of the woodwork lately, lol? Glad we have such intelligent members who are ready for a good debate.

(Tubeman) #46

Wow, that article was garbage.

Until recently, they were the most healthy game in town even if it was somewhat unpalatable and they had won over the dietitians, nutritionists and doctors to push their morality based agenda. They were on easy street… well except for the horrible diet part.

Suddenly the bedrock of their non-moral appeals (health, etc.) are not only being debunked but more importantly replaced with the very opposite approach (keto, paleo, LC) which not only has better scientific backing, shows better results in reversing chronic disease but pushes people into more sustainable, more pleasant and predominantly animal based WoEs.

It is the waking nightmare they cannot escape :scream: so they have no option but to go on the attack. They know they cannot succeed on a moral/animal rights basis (the vast majority of people don’t care [enough]), so they continue to invent faux science (thanks ADA/7th Day Adventist loonies) and step up attacks on the emerging ‘enemy’ WoEs.

I think we should continue to debunk and call out their BS and let our results speak for themselves - let’s keep the moral low-ground!! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I sense an idea for a major motion picture

I agree. The funny thing is that I (and I’m sure a lot of people on the forum) care about the humane treatment of animals. I try to buy humane certified eggs and meat when I can. But they conflate this issue with the supposed dietary benefits of primarily plant-based eating, and as you mentioned, that school of thought is slowly being eroded by newer data. If they feel strongly about the issue, maybe a better approach would be to accept that everyone is not willing to be vegan, and so educate people about humane food options, pressure companies/restaurants to use humanely sourced meats and dairy, and spread the word about bad industrial farming practices in a way that non-vegans can stomach.

In movie trailer voice…

“You’ve been to the Hostel, you’ve survived The Grudge, you’ve avoided all the Saws and suffered The Silence of the Lambs… now prepare yourself for the ultimate nightmare…”

:bacon:Bacon: The Movie :pig2:

I tried some more pointed titles around abattoirs, etc. but they made even me a little queasy :flushed:

Anyone seen Dr. Oz’s new diet? It is Pegan. Wish I were kidding. A combination of Paleo and Vegan!

He is good friends with both Neal Barnard and Mark Hyman so I guess this is what you get!

(Karl) #52

I was thinking more along the lines of hordes of lumbering vegan zombies… all chanting “Graaaiiiinnnnsssss”

We could call it… “The Walking Bread.”

…I’ll show myself out

(Rob) #53

Absolutely… couldn’t agree more.

#54

Bravo!

(Rob) #55

Brilliant… :rofl::joy::rofl:

You’d better come back for an encore :clap::clap:

#56

To answer your question, read this and you can watch the movie, My Big Fat Diet

Note the first nation people prior to the intervention were all eating packaged food and had gotten sick

As usual the nutritionist has something negative to say

(Rob) #57

If anyone is a grand bandwagoneer, it’s Dr Oz. Rides whatever train will keep up ratings and then conveniently forgets what he’s said if it conflicts with the next bandwagon to get on.

If you get your nutritional advice off TV or magazines/newpapers, you get what you deserve :flushed:

(Adam Kirby) #58

That sounds genuinely awful.

(TJ Borden) #59

I can live without Oreos since I can eat meat.

A life with neither meat or Oreos doesn’t seem like a life worth living.

Hi there JellyBelly. Wow, what a post!

I did not choose to follow the 2014 teaser article by Barnard and pay to read a “study”. I did choose to think about how people show up with a weak article and use it as a shield though.

Next I also thought about what the real issue might be. So, with the goal of trying to support you in your efforts to become fat adapted, enjoy spectacular health and above all, a great and supportive posture towards others, it appears that you might still be suffering from constipation. There may be some work for you to do on your journey, just a suggestion.

So, your posts - I think this provides the citations you may appreciate:
No weight loss 5-2017
Very hard stool 7-17
Am I eating too many vegetables 8-17
Constipation 9-2017
Zero carb nutrients 10-2017
Constipation and zero carb 12-2017
Is my diet sufficient? see: “if it turns into…no accusation there. Just a warning.” 8-17

You may still be constipated! As they say, it happens.

Have you tried meditation? Just a thought, I’ve no “studies” to cite for you.

It’s all N-1 JB. Good Luck, have a GREAT day!
