The BIGGEST problem with Keto: CRUNCHINESS

(Steve) #21

I meant Golden Flax Seed, It’s thin enough that you could fax it though…lol

(Chris) #22

I want to offer up a different viewpoint. I think a bigger problem is with trying to stick with old habits - this means searching for the crunchiness of your old chips and crackers, or trying to mimic bad foods with keto “fake foods”. That just reinforces your bad habits that you should be trying to break (IN MY OPINION). Perhaps chasing the old feeling could hold one back?

(Daisy) #23

Nuts, bacon, cacao nibs, try some different kinds of pork rinds. I think they’re gross too, but I add white cheddar powder to them sometimes and make them edible lol

There’s nothing wrong with keto crunchyness :man_cook:t3: It’s just a texture!

I realize you’re a carnivore, there’s more out there than chips and crackers. Chicken or pork rinds, bacon, and cracklings. :yum:

The original poster, @jamessilver seems to have a strong aversion to pork rinds but tastes change after leaving sugar behind and I didn’t really like them much before. But they got another day in court and were acquitted. :cowboy_hat_face::bacon::bacon::bacon:

(You've tried everything else; why not try bacon?) #25

If the crunchiness doesn’t need to be in cooked food, there’s always crudités. Celery, cucumber, broccoli, cauliflower, . . .

(Chris) #26

Nothing to do with my point - if he misses crunchyness, perhaps searching for that crunchiness could be futile.

It’s like quitting cigarettes - the habits involved around smoking (smoke when you get up, smoke after every meal, smoke when you get in the car) can be just as detrimental as the act of puffing on a cancer stick itself.

(You've tried everything else; why not try bacon?) #27

I get your point. For me, it’s sweetness. Non-sugar sweeteners only prolong the agony; I’m better off not seeking sweet tastes at all.

(Chris) #28

Same here. One spoonful of vanilla ice cream and I’m finishing the half gallon.

(Full Metal KETO AF) #29

LOL, I don’t really get your point here about the habits around smoking (driving, eating and waking up in the morning).
I quit cigarettes by carrying around about 5 joints of crappy pot in my shirt pocket puffing on one whenever I felt the urge for a cigarette. I got tired of it after a few days and was over the smoking. Whatever works! Nicotine is an easy quit for me, I did it 100’s of times before giving it up for good, about 8 years now.

(Chris) #30

That would have been my choice too, but good weed. :stuck_out_tongue:

I quit because I coughed up phlegm and found red in it 12 years ago- and it filled me with such rage that I finally had enough. I clipped the butt I was smoking half way, and then about 7 hours later (midnight) I went out and lit it up, and it tasted god-awful to me. That was the last time.

I have a gigantic cookie sheet that fits about one whole package of thin sliced cheese. I think it’s a full sheet pan instead of a half sheet pan? I had a half day at work today so I’m cooking a bunch and just pulled out a huge sheet of cheddar crackers that taste like cheese-it’s wish they tasted like

(Full Metal KETO AF) #32

I had to function! Wasn’t looking to get high. :cowboy_hat_face:

(Steaks b4 cakes! 🥩🥂) #33

If I fancy something crunchy, I bake up pepperoni or chorizo…lay the slices out on a baking sheet, sprinkle some salt on and bake in the over for 15 to 20 mins. So yummy. Especially with cream cheese or guacamole!

(Chris) #34

My strategy works pretty well. I’m 100% clean right now for work purposes, but still.

#35

Yep, without dip, they seem to make my mouth really dry. I’ve been using Primal Kitchen avocado oil mayo. One is their chipotle lime flavor. The other, I take plain mayo and mix with kalamata tapenade. Also, I dip raw broccoli in this. I

Put nuts into stuff.

Almonds, walnuts, … into salad as in Waldorf Salad or some such thing? Nuts on yogurt. Just nuts by themselves.

(James Gough) #37

Some good ideas.

The cheese one sounds best. I need to look that up.

Pepperoni will work too. I like that.

Pork rinds. Maybe it’s just the packets I’ve bought from shops that are gross. Maybe I need to make them myself. But I try to keep clear of pork meat.

I don’t want flax seed or any seed as I try to stay away from Lectins.

I don’t think there is anything wrong with wanting crunchiness. It’s not a bad thing like sugar craving, which I don’t get.

Thanks everyone. If anyone would like to explain the cheese thing, please do
