Testing

(Michelle) #1

Just got this ketone monitor today. Does anyone use this brand? The box came with a lot of stuff, so I need to figure out how to use it all.

I believe there are a few how to videos on youtube or might check abbott lab’s website. I cannot remember which I did but there is something out there for sure. Good luck!

Just tried it!! says 1.9 mmol/L. Pretty happy about that.

seems too high though. I hope I read it right. Strips are too expensive to retest again. I will try again next week and see what it says.

@TomSeest Is this the brand you use?

(Michelle) #6

this is the one I bought from Amazon. Just tried it for the first time.

(Tom Seest) #7

Yes it is

Yay!!!

@TomSeest - how do you like it? How often do you test? My reading seems pretty high to me. I don’t want to test to often since the strips are so expensive.

The reading of 1.9 is just fine. If you are a Type 1 diabetic, you would want to test your blood glucose levels too because a high blood glucose reading with a high Ketone reading can be problematic.

When I’m testing, I usually test three times per day. But, I have a less expensive source for strips.

What is your less expensive source? I have a Precision Xtra but it doesn’t come with strips, and the Abbot strips are rather expensive. Thanks.
