Testing blood after eating, how long?

Hello all

I just got a blood glucose⁄ketone monitor, and I would like to see if specific food⁄meals kick me out of ketosis. So I would like to to an experiment where I do a blood test after every meal and perhaps after exercise. I am now diabetic so the blood testing is all new to me, and I would like to know how long after eating or exercising should you test your blood ie immediately or wait an hour or 2?

I had thought I had been doing well until I tested the blood this morning for the 1st time and I was 1.7mmol, then ate what I thought was keto all day, albeit with quite a lot of artificial sweetners over the last 2 days, but this evening I was only 0.8mmol the tested immediately after a 10k run and it was 0.7mmol.

I have dropped about 15kg since january, and am worried that that has just been through low carb not proper keto…

TIA

Don’t get embarrassed like I was! Check the frequently asked questions. One of the reasons I didn’t look there was I couldn’t find them. (I describe myself as internet challenged)

I’m looking for the same answers to this question and will check the FAQ as suggested. I was debating on buying something to test my glucose/ketones. The pee sticks are cool, but don’t give me the info I want. I’d love to read your updates on what you find.
